I have heard mixed things about the Flour Pot chain but always walk and past and think it looks lovely, so I decided to give it a go! The atmosphere was buzzing, being very full on a random Thursday lunchtime, people chatting, working or dining solo. It was very pleasant and the bright and airy decor made for an excellent vibe that you feel pretty comfortable in. I was seated pretty fast given how busy it was, and despite the service being a little blunt and inattentive, overall my experience with the staff was good. The coffee was great. It not only looked great with some brilliant latte art, but tasted it too. The beans and barista must both be pretty good, because I thoroughly enjoyed it. That being said, the food, especially for the rather high prices, was a let down. I ordered the Mexican Benedict, expecting an exciting and innovative take on the classic. Though the eggs were packed perfectly, the dish just lacked seasoning and excitement, and I was left very hungry after splashing out over £14. Everything was well made enough, but completely missing any wow. I followed it up with a carrot cake as a result, which was divine. Flavoursome, chunky and filled with nuts and seeds, this made me a happy boy to end my visit. All in all, there’s not much wrong about the Flour Pot, it’s a great atmosphere and lovely place to be, with outstanding coffee and alright food. There’s places in Brighton that are really worth the trip and the money, a little more so than here though. It’s defo worth a visit, but I’m undecided on whether I’ll be back or not just yet!

TOP COFFEE ADDRESS IN TOWN! 1) Food – above average, comparing to most of the other Cafes/Sandwich Bars in Brighton, in terms of taste, ingredients quality and quantity is also as it should be. My favourite coffee in Town though with its specific sourness level and depth. 2) Customer service – all of them, in every FPB branch are genuinely kind and there to serve you so you can enjoy your time. 3) Interior – I really like the Alice in Wonderland chess style floor and the rest of the interior. However, only Fiveways branch is big enough to really enjoy the time sitting there or having a meeting. All other subsidiaries are very tiny and rather takeaway oriented. 4) Price – yes, it is an overpriced place and I agree with people, but at the same time, I appreciate, that they really trying to create a different place, with its own unique identity, values, better food, quality coffee grains and bakery products which obviously are not even comparable to the horrible ones in popular chains and groceries.

However, I’ve been here before and have met team members who were kind and smiling, so I know the service can be much better. The espresso had a light, bubbly crema that only formed around the edges, and the flavor was sharply citrusy and felt thin. This suggests an under-extracted shot, possibly due to uneven tamping or grind issues. It was only a medium experience.

We love the Flour Pot Bakery and have tried them all over the Brighton. In this massively expanded site the systems seems to need some tuning. We were taken to a table and asked what drinks we would like, we were then given a menu for food. The menu assumes we want something large and did not include the cakes we had come for. I had to go and photograph the cakes and show my Wife to choose, we ordered and settled the bill and after being there for 10 minutes we got the cakes. We ate the cakes, we waited and no drinks came. The waitress reminded the Barista and we waited another 10 minutes. I went up to the counter and asked for the drinks as a take away as we were a bit fed up waiting. It took another 5 minutes and they were not really hot enough. They did give us a card for a future free drink. I am sure this could be a great Cafe, but, the team needs to be more focused on doing the job in addition to...
