I’ve been here 4 times in the last few months for food. Food is ok but each time we’ve had to wait between 45 - 75 minutes. This feels a bit unacceptable to me.
Waited for over an hour today for burgers and sandwiches. When we asked the lone bar staff why it was taking so long we were told that they’d just taken 5 food orders and that ours was being plated as we speak. It arrived 15 minutes later.
We were asked if we wanted to purchase further drinks whilst we waited but I feel it’s a shame we weren’t offered them on the house.
As for the excuse that the food was taking so long due to 4 other orders. Isn’t this something a pub selling food should anticipate!!! Besides, when we walked in and ordered there was only one other table of people there.
The pub either needs to simplify its menu or employ more staff. Not that it bothers me as we won’t be returning due to the consistently unacceptable long waits for food.
Which is a shame as it seems a lovely pub, welcoming for dogs...
Read moreThis pub offers some of the best local produce around. The meats come, literally, from around the corner at Barfield's Butchers, fish from MCB and the bread from the nearby Flourpot Bakery. There are a variety of dishes to cover all tastes and budgets. Vegans are also more than catered for as The Cleveland sells the only Vegan Cheeseboard in the area, as well as selling plenty vegan ice creams, supplied by The Great British Charcuterie Company at Brighton Marina, there are also local Charcuterie and Cheeseboards available. It's great for families, large groups and solo drinkers. There's an outside area overlooking Blakers Park and a gorgeous conservatory dining area. The pub can also host and cater small functions and has some great morning activities such as yoga and music with Mike for young children. A real...
Read moreWe ordered 2x Roast pork to collect and eat at home. The communication was perfect and we collected right on time. On first glace it looked amazing! The gravy was just perfect, I would say £19 for a roast (with an added side) they could stretch to touch more gravy. The veg was wonderful, I would definitely get the side of cauliflower cheese again. The potatoes we're not crispy however. The main event of the pork left much to be desired. Perhaps we just ordered the wrong meat. It was chewy, a large fat to meat ratio (which i do expect with a belly cut) but NO crackling!! That is really there only reason anyone orders pork right?! So overall for the price a little disappointing. Having said that I'd be willing to order again and try either the lamb or beef. Perhaps it was our error in ordering the...
