Something for everyone here, including two very different cafes. The chalet café has outside seating and supports a view of the entire park, being very central. The Rotunda Café has seating inside and out and does very good hot meals. Carnivores, vegetarians, and vegans are catered for. There are also wonderful cakes and plenty of assorted drinks with plant, as well as cows milk. The staff are very friendly. This cafe also looks over a beautiful rose garden and a round lake/pond with stepping stones for those who enjoy walking over them. Both cafes have outside toilets, which are the responsibility of the Parks Department and as they are outside they sometimes leave a lot to be disired. The park hosts many events during the year, and rather than forgetting any event, I suggest looking them up on the Internet. This park has been part of my life for over 70 years, and I love it. The wonderful Preston Manor, worth viewing now that it's been refreshed and is open to the public, is very interesting to both adults and children. School visits are also welcome. The Manor gardens are also open to the public and provide wonderful peace and the most beautiful dragonflies. Access is from the park. The park also has a racing cycle track, which in turn hosts local cricket matches. Football is catered for in the main park. Other interesting places in the park are the outdoor gym, tennis courts, basketball and boules courts, which have their own lighting in the winter. Parking is in a set carpark or on street, both of which need to be paid for with the Pay by Phone parking app and cost the same. There is a very well planned childrens playground. This park is a wonderful jewel in Brighton's crown and proves that we know how to do Parks as well as the beach. There is so much...
Read moreI’ve been visiting Preston Park in Brighton for many years, and it’s still one of my favorite spots in the city. The park is huge, offering plenty of open space to enjoy and a variety of activities for all ages. It hosts numerous events throughout the year, making it a lively and dynamic place to visit.
The children's playground is top-notch, up-to-date, and perfect for kids to run around and have fun. It's one of the best playgrounds in the area, and I always feel at ease letting my little ones enjoy themselves there. Plus, there are basketball courts and ample green space for football or other outdoor games, which is great for both casual visits and more active outings.
That said, there’s one major downside that’s hard to ignore – the parking situation. The council’s changes to the roads around the park have made it much more difficult to find parking. It’s frustrating, especially considering how busy the park can get during peak times, and it really takes away from the overall experience.
Despite the parking challenges, Preston Park remains a great destination for families, sports enthusiasts, and anyone looking to relax in a spacious outdoor setting. Just make sure to plan ahead when it...
Read moreCamped here for Brighton Pride 2022. The park is easy to find, the facility were well laid out, but could have been advertised much more clearly. The simple things like tea n toast were available but not mentioned. Then there was the no BBQ signs all over the place, especially around folk who fragrantly ignored this and well…. Also, no stoves etc too - which were equally ignored and so this that followed the safety advice/rules really lost out…. Bus services were exact and reliable with good friendly drivers. If you’re camping here, DO NOT be deceived by the daytime temperatures! At night this place is almost subzero from 23c during the day. Bring plenty of bedding!! The free showers just couldn’t be fed by hot water, but don’t worry, a £5 fee saw plenty of hot water in a premium shower, that wasn’t any different from the standard - aside the temperature… This review is skewed given my impression of camping here as above. The park itself is lovely. Easy reach to town centre, plenty of parking and has some nice views of immediate hills with roaming cattle. Other than this,...
