Hi. After returning from London and enjoying the most beautiful American pancakes at the Montcalm Royal London House, I developed an irresistible craving. Pancakes for breakfast. Waking up on a Saturday and deciding to go to The Nines to order exactly what I ate at the Montcalm Royal London House was my mission—a mission that ended in failure and disappointment.
My order comprised Eggs Royale, followed by the so-called "Perfect Pancakes" (which were, in reality, quite the opposite). The Eggs Royale was a generous 2/10, with the muffins being cold, topped with a cool poached egg, and covered in a very sour hollandaise sauce.
Following the first disappointment, I hoped to revive my mood and spirit with some lovely American pancakes. I informed the waiter, who was very good at his job, and in a few minutes, my pancakes arrived. Soul-crushing. I laid eyes on the stack of pancakes, which made me instinctively ask the waiter if they had been made fresh. With utmost honesty, he informed me that they were store-bought pancakes, simply warmed up. Still wanting to revive my crying soul, I decided to consume this charlatan of a pancake—and my lord, I was in for a shock. The compote was a defrosted berry mix, a total mismatch of flavours. After a few morsels of disappointment, I had to return home—broken spirit,...
Read moreI’d been wanting to try this restaurant out for a while and I’ve been here twice now, once for lunch and once for brunch. The restaurant looks nice inside and the decor is pretty. Food and drinks are displayed nicely. The service is good and the waiters/waitresses are attentive. A little on the pricier side but still reasonable prices.
The portions are big and very filling and also I thoroughly enjoyed both meals. I had a pasta dish and a mocktail when I came the first time. The mocktails are very refreshing. Second time I came I had the desi breakfast and coffee. The coffee here is really nice, I even ordered a second round.
The only criticism I have is that all the tables are so close together that there is no privacy and you can hear everyone’s conversations and vice versa. I understand this is because the restaurant isn’t very big but would be nice if the tables are more spread apart to create a more intimate environment. For this reason I’ve knocked a...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at The Nine's Restaurant in Derby, and I must say, it was an absolutely fantastic experience! From start to finish, everything exceeded expectations. The food was nothing short of exceptional—each dish bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection.
The lamb shank was tender and rich, easily one of the best I've ever had. The platter was a delightful medley of flavors, each bite better than the last. The spinach curry was a perfect balance of spices, and the naans were soft, warm, and incredibly flavorful.
For dessert, the sweetness was just right—not overwhelming but satisfying, a perfect end to an incredible meal.
On top of the amazing food, the staff were incredibly friendly and professional, making the entire dining experience even more enjoyable. I would highly recommend The Nine's without hesitation—it's definitely worth the trip from Oldham, and I’ll be returning again soon! 100%...
