The Railway Hotel — Restaurant in Great Britain

Absolutely loved having lunch at the Railway Hotel Southend on sea. Food was excellent with very good produce. Very tasty dishes at very reasonable prices. The squid dish is superb and fresh. The chilli dip was perfect with a good bite in the heat but not over done. The thick cut bread served with a bacon sandwich was so fresh and great quality bacon. Frankie served us today. Very quick service once ordered and delivered to our table. Excellent customer service from Frankie who appears very happy in her work and gave brilliant customer service. Fantastic that many original areas of this business has been maintained and the inside and outside area's are clean, comfortable, with safety and well organised for the public. Great choice of food offered in the menu with a very good drink choices with reasonable prices, even Murphy's was available. Good background music and great noise level for people to enjoy themselves and chat in comfortable surroundings. Very speedy service at the bar for food and beverages. I happily chatted to Beverley I believe to be a bar manager and she was extremely lovely to chat to today. A great team working together, so helpful and approachable with any queries. A happy team is the best team any company could ask for. Great position opposite Southend central station and many parking areas around the Railway Hotel. Lots of information on show of events and pricing on happy hours etc. I have attended music events at this venue over the year's and I'm very proud of how this venue has reopened to such a high standard. So glad it's reopened, such a buzz here at the moment & great choice of beers available. Just the whole experiece is exactly what the area needed right now. I haven't tried the food, so can't comment on that. One thing I would say needs improvement is the wine. It's all on the cheap plonk end and currently something I avoid. But hopefully with time that improves.. 9/10 I'm drinking murphys or guinness there anyway, but would be nice to have more options.

Edit: Just to also add, I think more seating is needed outside. Another sheltered booth would fit perfectly next to the current one for example. There feels like there is currently a bit of a fight to get the only booth out there. In time I hope they resolve this & put more tables on the lower area. I also understand it could be this scale due to noise...

Quirky structure and decor, informal atmosphere and dress code, food served - lots of vegetarian & vegan options. Prices moderate. Excellent entertainment with live bands (jazz, blues, some rock) Outside seating area. Not the easiest of places for wheelchair access, but I think it could be done. Toilets fairly basic but clean. A structural issue inhibits free movement, creating a bit of a bottleneck and it can be hard work getting to the Ladies' and back when busy. Other than that, a good venue - quite "trendy" with lots...
