We recently had a fantastic stay at The White Bear, Devizes. From the moment we arrived (after a long cycle from Reading) Mark and Georgie were so welcoming and helpful. They gave us a secure place to store our bikes, then showed us around, made us feel at home, and got us a drink. The rooms very perfectly clean and comfortable, with a nice big double bed and powerful warm shower. The bar downstairs was stocked with a wide selection of drinks, and was set up to be COVID safe and social distancing was in place. We all had a full English breakfast in the morning which really hit the spot! We chose this venue as we were doing the Kennet & Avon Canal ride from Reading to Bristol. Devizes was our stop over point. The White Bear was a perfect location, right in the centre of town but just a couple of minutes off the Canal path. I would thoroughly recommend this to anyone else doing the ride. Mark and Georgie were brilliant hosts and we will certainly be staying again in the future.

Staying here, looking for somewhere to eat. We checked in early. Food looked great and didn't disappoint. Owner was in the kitchen came out to meet us. Offered to keep serving us food after service. Table service attentive and not over bearing. Will post breakfast and room review in the morning. Id imagine breakfast will also live up to the standard set.

A friend and I went out for dinner here this evening, it was lovely, We were welcomed by all the staff and served by Alexandra who was really nice, she chatted to us and had a laugh and a joke. We had the most amazing food, really delicious! And lots of gin! Lovely old pub, nice and clean, plenty of space to social distance. Perfect 👌

Was searching for a place to eat for 5 that we hadn't been to before and chose "The White Bear" in Devizes. Well I'm so glad we did, what a very pleasant atmosphere and surroundings. The staff were lovely and the food was delish. I had the Pulled Pork and Loaded Cheesy Chips with BBQ sauce. Very nice. Home made Chips, (NOT ya frozen rubbish) cooked to a Beautiful crispy outside and fluffy potato inside. My Friends and Family had Burgers with a choise of toppings for a little extra on the price and were very pleased with them too. There was a very nice reasonably priced Menu and a choise of Daily Specials. We were shown to our seats and drinks orders were taken. I asked for a Black coffee, which came in a Cafetiere which had about 4 coffees worth in it. I was very surprised, as usually you only get a cup full. Anyway what a very pleasant afternoon. We said send our complements to the chef and he came out to thank us too. We didn't have puddings as we were to full up with our main meals, so can't comment on them, maybe next time. Will DEFO be going back. Thank you from 5 very...

For me, you can usually tell the sort of pub it is by the welcome - or lack of it - you receive on approaching the bar. Well, there was no question about The White Bear! The owner, Georgina, was warm, friendly, cheery and efficient. We took our table and she explained the lunch options available in a very smiley way. She was fronting the place on her own but nothing was too much trouble. The food arrived promptly and was genuinely excellent. Her partner Marc is the chef and he produced some of the very best pub/hotel food I've ever had. In my case an incomparable cauliflower soup finished with truffle oil followed by excellent arancini. All our food was obviously made from fresh and quality ingredients. Generous portions and really well-presented too. The beer was first-class and it's pretty evident this young couple really care about the hospitality business. That makes a refreshing change. All I can add is it's the kind of place you'd be so pinching-yourself happy to have as your local. I only wish it was mine! Highly recommended and they...
