The smiles in our group photo paint an inaccurate picture. Let me tell you the story.
We went for a casual visit to the XOXO Grill House this evening. Our two friends arrived there before us and procured a table for the five of us (four grown ups and one growing up, sneer at that if you want - I just did).
Apparently we were only able to keep our table until 7:45pm due to having lots of bookings; we arrived and took our seats at 6:10 so this should not have been a big issue.
However.
We had to wait about 20 minutes for the waitress to come over and take our order, we also had to prompt for drinks at this point as we had not already been offered any and the food order was just about taken without any mention of it. The drinks took a further 20 minutes to arrive, and the 'Mango Dream' encourages you to dream the taste of mango, because it doesn't. What felt like a further 60 minutes passed before our food arrived; the meals came out in twos and were a few minutes apart.
The nipper received mashed potato instead of the chips that had been ordered for him (he got someone else's plate). My burger with side order of fries consisted of what seemed like the cuttings of a single potato, which was quite disappointing considering they ask for £2.95 for this - you can get a much bigger portion at the McDonalds just up the street if you don't mind the difference in clientele. Two of the party ordered the rump steak, this is advertised to have beautifully trimmed-off fat, but the 3" x 0.5" fat portion belied this on both steaks. The fajita wrap was so tough the final diner had to literally wrench at it as she bit through it.
The waitress came to clear the table after we were finished eating, we were then asked how everything was, and did we want dessert. Bearing in mind that this was now 8pm and our 'kicking-out time' was meant to be 7:45pm we were obviously a little disappointed and chose to allay this to the manager.
They discounted the bill for us which provided some recompense. It's such a shame that we did not enjoy our visit as this is a very new eatery to Peterborough, and with so much competition appearing in the City Centre now venues need to stand out and offer good food, good service and good prices.
As I write this they are a new restaurant and hopefully they will improve as...
Read moreWe had the delight in visiting XOXO and it was absolutely amazing. Nicely tucked away and still in the city center, we were greeted immediately upon entering. We head booked a table for our anniversary and so glad we did, as it got busy whilst we were there.
We were politely shown to our table, the restaurant was clean, ambience was lovely. Not too loud, lighting was just right. Decor in general was pleasant.
We ordered our steak meal, staring with the buffalo wings and a couple of mocktails. The watermelon mojito and strawberry mojito was amazing. They use dry ice which provides great presentation, nice and fresh, very impressive to start with.
The starters came out in good time, wings were nice and tender, with delightful seasoning and a layer of buffalo hot sauce. Presentation was good and taste was even better. Fantastic start to the evening.
Shortly after our mains came out. T bone steak with chips and a side of peppercorn sauce. I was absolutely taken away, the size of the steak was not just big, but a nice chunk, it looked amazing. The presentation was superb, and the fries were very unique.
Our mouthes watering we could not wait to tuck in. We opted for medium, and it was cooked to perfection. Every cut, every bite was delicious and the sauce was beautiful! Great combination with the chips. Half way through I was full, but wanted to keep eating away!
Whilst we were deciding on desert at the start, we were so full from the mains we did not order desert, however as it was our anniversary, they very kindly brought out their signature brownie with ice cream accompanied with a sparkler. We were so grateful and completely taken away. It was an anniversary gift from the restaurant. To top it off, the brownie desert was the absolute best brownie we had ever had!
XOXO really is one of the best meals we have ever had. Highly...
Read moreI notmally do not moan but I ordered several times from Xoxo grill house many times from Just Eat. The restaurant informs me they do not ask for delivery drivers contact number which they should. This is in case the customer rings up however, worst part is i waited over two hours to enjoy my food for party and drivers just. Eat use get lost never follow instructions as they can hardly speak English but the food never turned up but say delivered when it hasn't . I can only email just eat but when asking the restaurant they were rude denying any wrong doing saying it out their control which is understandable but in all fairemess they should keep contact for driver who picks up food in case of emergency. Just eat driver never rang me but it disgraceful as no food but restaurant rude behaviour. Next time i will not order again as this third time this happened. I used other fast food who use just eat, ubereats and hungry house and never had a problem. I writing this as felt xoxo grill would have learnt to improve their services which they have not.
I was left with no food a ruined party for special birthday for family who just got back from hospital suffering serious illnesses and was lucky to be alive. If i could a minus rating i would as they told me last time they would improve their delievery services and they not. Sometimes it hard to dine in but xoxo should be responsible for taking contact for delievery drivers as the restaurant could accidentally miss an item what they going to do ring just eat when it closed or wait hour on the phone so they relay communication this disgraceful. The rudeness of the person who answered the phone surprises me how he got the job as he has no people skills at all. Left my family member in tears as i had to go get take-out which was not the same. They had my contact number yet no...
