Harris + Hoole — Restaurant in Guildford

Excellent. Truly excellent. Nicely maintained. The interior is great with a very calm atmosphere (mid Sunday afternoon - I have no idea about other times). There is music (and I'd prefer there wasn't) but it's not loud. Suddenly I remember: the lighting is quite stylish without being an eyesore and without being snooty. And if you want a V60 coffee, you can have it! 😍 My coffee was lovely, and served in the proper container to keep it hot too (but not indefinitely, of course). Some chairs were kind of like the style you'd see in a primary school, but that doesn't do any harm. I didn't feel uncomfortable at any point, and I think they've got a 'banquette' like a big long sofa (or chaise très longue, we might say). Service was just right too. Would I go again? Offering a great selections of teas, coffees, snacks and treats, Harris and Hooks is well worth stopping in to.

Located in the heart of Guildford town centre, this charming little coffee house offers pleasant surroundings, with a large amount of seating space.

It hits the 'Shabby Sheek' style just right, and is clean and airy with it. The staff are friendly, and offer good table service.

I love their earthenware crockery, it fits the feel of the place perfectly.

The food and drink is standard coffee house fare, at a good price. The quality is good, and better then some chains.

I would choose stopping in here for a pot of tea and treat over the many other coffee shops, big chain or otherwise, in Guildford.

I gave this place several chances because of its great location & quiet space upstairs but unfortunately every visit ends up been more and more disappointing.

At best the staff is not attentive & the espresso based drinks tend to either be too bitter or they have a burned peanut aftertaste which is a sign of poor preparation. I had one decent hot chocolate drink from here but the rest of the time the ones i had were completely watered down. I guess the only safe option is the tea which is nothing special and no matter the type it is always served at the same temperature.
