I was left disappointed at my service at All Bar One Guildford after I took my boyfriend and eight of his friends for food and drinks on the 14th for his birthday celebrations. We were not told the service cycle when we sat at our table, and I had quite hope we would receive table service. After around 10 minutes of waiting to see if our waiter would explain the service cycle, I suggested that we order from the app. There was a fair amount of time for drinks to arrive but since it was a busy shift and there seemed to be few staff on to manage the load, this wasnât really a sticking point. What really fell short for us was that none of the drinks were made to spec. All of our drinks came ungarnished, I was particularly upset that my little moons cocktail came without the little moon and when I asked the server if the bar had run out he looked clueless, rolled his eyes and as if he couldnât really be bothered to check. He looked extremely miserable which is unsurprising at this time of the year when hospitality staff is generally overworked and underpaid. Drinks aside we didnât wait an abnormally long time for food and all the dishes were cooked well although again the festive dish wasnât festive. My fries came without the sage and onion festive sprinkle and my burger without cranberry sauce. I flagged the fries when our server returned and again he seemed very confused, he went back to the kitchen and bought them back out with the festive drink sprinkle which had raspberries in it. I was very underwhelmed because I had waited all year to have this dish again, it is one of my favourites! This was such a shame having worked in an All Bar One site previously, I really feel for the staff at this time of year and do I believe that the FOH floor team were doing the best they could but from a Bar and BOH perspective it just seemed lazy. The supervisor/ manager that saw to us during our service was lovely and very chipper. Please consider rotating more staff on during the busy...
Read moreProbably one of the worst bottomless brunch experiences I've ever been to - and I've been to a few.
We were seated upstairs in the restaurant, given a COVID brief, and explained that the idea of the bottomless brunch was to never have your glass empty.
We sit down and then have to wait about 10 minutes before we realise we're being completely ignored and are able to catch a waiter's attention. Then plus another 5 minutes for our drinks to come on top of that. Not a great start.
Waiters were friendly but not attentive to the table. We were constantly having to wave over the waiter to ask for more processo, and not once throughout the 1.5 hours did a drink come out without us having to flag someone down. This was a laborious process every time our drinks were finished as there was only 1 or 2 waiters floating in the upstairs.
Then the food came, and I'm not too fussy about the food people give me on bottomless brunches. However, due to the speech we were all given at the start about how they have the right to refuse service, can stop it at any time etc. I was surprised at the singular piece of toast that was put before me. Both my friends and I laughed at the ridiculous portion. You would think they would be able to increase that by twofold without breaking the bank that much - all it is is bread, some feta cheese and avocado.
My two other friends ordered full englishes (I would recommend getting this if you are to put yourself through the bottomless here), who ate at a normal pace. On the other hand, I had to take a mouthful every few minutes to ensure that I wasn't finished within 2 minutes of us starting.
Can't wait to receive one of their standard responses saying that they're sorry about my experience - not good enough - where is the customer service??
All in all: inattentive staff, tiny portion sizes, and a...
Read moreJust home after a dreadful evening here. Food was pretty good but service was truly awful. Only about six or seven tables with customers so really not very busy. The chef seemed to be doing a good job at the servery but the three front of house staff couldn't have cared less about anything. We were a table of three and were told on arrival to sit where we wanted and order using the QR code or by going to the bar. There were dirty tables with glasses etc. But we chose a table and went to the various and ordered. We git our drinks at the bar too then waited for our food. It came pretty quickly and was good. Once finished we waited for table to be cleared and desserts offered but neither happened. After about 20 mins of waiting we returned to the bar and ordered dessert and another drink. Still a number of dirty uncleared tables but still not busy. Dessert arrived and was good but no cutlery came with the dessert and all of our dirty main course plates were left on our table. Nobody interacted with us or asked how things were. Once finished we left passing by the still dirty tables and the three staff stood at the till at the bar, two chatting amounts themselves and the other on her phone on a video call to a friend. The two chatting stopped for a moment and said "night" and nothing more. I don't like to complain usually but this experience was so bad I feel I have to share it. The three waiting staff clearly had no interest in their work tonight, a real shame.....for All Bar One, they may not care but we definitely...
