Muffin Break - Coffee Shop Guildford — Restaurant in Guildford

We recently visited this place on Thursday 14th November. We ordered two drinks and a toasted panini to share.

My husband had a large black Americano coffee ☕. It had a good, wholesome earthly flavour, not bitter yet strong in taste which is a definite plus.

I had a Banoffee Marvellous Milkshake. It was absolutely delicious, not too sweet and it came with cream on top.

We shared a chicken, chorizo, mozzarella and red pesto panini. It was well toasted with a decent amount of filling.

They offer a wide range of quality foods both sweet and savoury. There are options for vegans, vegetarians and meat eaters and they can all be eaten cold or toasted.

Entrance to the café front has a small ramp which should be more clearly marked. The store is clean but slightly chilly, the lighting is shadow-casting which causes issues and it's generally rather dull and spartan (everything's brown, black or grey). Furthermore, there are numerous items of furniture looking rather tired.

I asked for a filter coffee, and I should’ve known something was off when one staff member looked uncertain, while the other confidently said they had it. I couldn’t see what was being made behind the counter, but what I got was clearly just a regular espresso with water. Definitely not filter coffee. If you don’t have it, just say so, like the other coffee shops in the building. I would have appreciated the honestly. Don’t lie and pass off something else as if I wouldn’t notice. I ask for filter coffee because I have a sensitivity to espresso, so not only that was dishonest, but it also made me sick. If you don’t have what someone asks for, especially when it’s for health reasons, just say so. Don’t lie and pretend. Won’t be coming back, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone who actually cares what goes...

My first and last time at Muffin Break. The table where I sat was not clean; I asked the staff to clean it. Someone came and cleaned the table, then went back behind the counter to make drinks for customers without washing their hands. Also, a wet and sticky substance was on the floor near my table, and I had to ask for it to be cleaned.
