My friends and I went to Shardana for a birthday meal and had a unpleasant experience. On arrival we were reminded we only had our table for two hours which we were more than happy with as this was stated in the confirmation email however, when we were all seated and our waitress came over things went really down hill. Firstly, we were continuously reminded we only had the table for two hours and that we “really needed to be gone by 7.15pm because another table was coming”, this instantly made us all feel under pressure and that we were just numbers as opposed to customers. We then began to order and our experience got worse, my friend asked for garlic bread as a starter to which the waitress responded “you know you only have two hours”, implying that we couldn’t have starters because they needed us to be gone as soon as possible. Not only that, my friend who is a vegetarian which is a dietary need, was told she couldn’t have a pasta dish minus the meat as this “wasn’t possible”, along with some uncomfortable, judgemental facial expressions even though we were paying customers and thus far had already been made to feel like we weren’t entitled to the full service. She later then referred to my friend as “blondie” which is totally unprofessional and rude. Food was nothing more than average and at the end of our evening, after being made to feel so uncomfortable , we had a £15 service charge put onto our bill which we asked to be removed as we didn’t feel we received a worthy service. However, the manager did come over to us at the end who was friendly and polite, and kindly removed our service charge once he heard about our experience. I’m extremely disappointed this was the reception we received as paying customers, I would like to think this doesn’t happen on...
Read moreTucked away in a little alley on the High Street, this authentic Italian eatery features great food at a decent price, coupled with amazing service.
Upon stepping in, I was shown to a table promptly after confirming that I didn't have a reservation. The place exuded a modern and slightly posh feel, with neatly laid out cutlery, a candle, and a rose at each table.
I had the Calzone, which was served with ham and red peppers, together with the traditional tomato and mozzarella base. The quality of ingredients used, as well as the preparation technique, was well reflected in the dish. Instead of overpowering the rest of the ingredients as with some other places, the cheese used here instead complimented them, and acted as a catalyst which blended the flavours together in a delicious combination.
Service here was excellent. Staff were dressed professionally and were extremely polite, always having a smile on their faces when taking orders, giving recommendations, or serving dishes. Before our food arrived, the manager asked if we were okay to be moved to another table to accommodate a larger group, and after we agreed, she thanked us in Italian and bowed with the biggest smile on her face. Throughout our time here, we were treated like valued patrons, which made the experience even better.
Despite the ambience of the place and the quality of food and service, prices were surprisingly low. My Calzone set me back by only £13, and also worth mentioning is that if your group is small enough, the price you pay is nett (as reflected in menu; no additional charges).
Overall, an excellent Pizzaria with quality food, great service, and great value. I will certainly be back in future to try some of their...
Read moreUnfortunately, my previous 2 good experiences at this restaurant have been ruined by my experience today.
Firstly, upon entering, we were made to wait for 5 minutes before even having our presence acknowledged, and the place was almost empty.
Secondly, after being seated and served, my wine was served in a chipped glass (open your eyes) My wife ordered a starter and asked for some extra dressing on the side, unfortunately the waitress (14 years old and clearly not trained) failed to understand or pass on the request correctly, (managers fault) needles to say the food served was not what was requested, we complained and explained yet the manager was not interested in actually listening, a heated argument took place in the restaurant in front of all other guests, he simply didn't want to listen, this obviously ruined the whole occasion.
We decided to stay for the main course as was under time constraints, the main course, pizza (very good) and spaghetti carbonarer (also very good but child's portion as a main course) not acceptable.
I still gave a tip as not the untrained child waitresses' fault.
The only reasonable part was they removed the starter from the bill (too little too late)
Will 100% never go back. Try to get a table anywhere at short notice on Sunday afternoon and see how you get on, this place was almost empty, ask...
