Read moreEvery year we travel down to Guildford to spend time with our family and do Christmas shopping. One of out traditions is the adult pantomime and cocktails and food at Turtle Bay. Always had a great time and would recommend to anyone visiting the Guildford area. Unfortunately last night we were let down. We were seated at a table which was broken and one of our party caught her jumper. Our waiter really didn't know the menu or the Christmas set menu we had to tell him it had starred and run from 20th November to the 2nd January. Eventually after a very long wait we received our cocktails well after our starters were brought to the table.
The waiter went missing and we were left waiting. Then after a very long wait our mains arrived the chicken though cooked was luke warm at best along with cold rice . We had nobody to raise our concerns to. Eventually Mercy came to our table and tried to resolve our issues Unfortunately we were passed sending the food back for it to be edible. She did try to really help but it was by now ruined. Our waiter reappeared having been sent on his break and to his credit arranged a reduction of our bill. Our experience of Turtle Bay has always been brilliant but on this occasion it let itself down. Maybe it has become that popular they feel they don't have to give high quality service and great...
Read moreIf I'm being totally honest here and have had some time to think and reflect but I've decided on 3 stars for my experience..
Having never ever heard of this place before attended a staff party and to be honest having to pre order food is not my cup of tea really when looking to eat somewhere. I wanted things plain, yet the rice was spicy still and the service wasn't the best in my opinion. The venue looked run down and slightly dingy with the toilets not up to standard. The portion size wasn't value for money on what was ordered and actually found after paying 40 odd quid was walking out pretty hungry still. I didn't enjoy the desert and it lacked a lot of what I would class as half decent. Drinks were mainly just a cup of ice and very little liquid.. Maybe a slush puppy is better suited for the menu or is it to heavily dilute down? I don't know but I don't really understand what all the rave is as I didn't get that rave feeling..
Well I can say I've given it a go and it's pretty much average without the wow factor. It's not for me and in my opinion I didn't feel it was value for money either..
If work considered returning here.. I will wish them well at the staff party and I'll stay home with a Tesco ready meal as it will be cheaper and more...
