I went into Greggs today and the shop was really busy, with a long, slow-moving queue. When it was finally my turn, I took a few items from the shelf and asked the staff member for a coffee and a pizza slice. I paid for everything and assumed she would start making my coffee, but instead she walked off to the back room.
When she came back, she asked what I was waiting for, and when I said “my coffee,” she insisted that I hadn’t ordered one. I explained that I had, but she was quite rude and kept repeating that I’d only ordered a pizza. She eventually started making the coffee, but by then I had already gone to the other till and paid another staff member instead.
To make things worse, the first worker was about to charge me again until I pointed out that I had already paid. Staff really need to listen more carefully and not be rude when there’s a misunderstanding — especially when the shop is busy. Poor customer...

Instead of apologising, she told her colleague to serve me and her colleague said she was busy. After I said I was leaving, they said they would serve me but I decided to walk out anyways and go down to the other Greggs on broad walk as they are so much friendlier and nicer to their customers. Very rude to treat your customers this way, especially to a heavily pregnant customer who has been patiently waiting in line and didn’t deserve the horrible treatment. A smile goes a long way with customers and if you don’t like customer facing roles then maybe they should...
