We decided to hit the nostalgia train and hit Pizza Express for a birthday celebration. To get the celebration vibes a flowing we ordered an aperol spritz and a peroni - VIBES, I was pleasantly surprised that the spritz was the right amount of Prosecco and Aperol (often places don’t put enough) For dinner we carb loaded with a sloppy Giuseppe, a Lasagne, Mozzarella Garlic Bread AND pizza dough breadsticks
The lasagne met expectations in quality, although felt smaller than the portion size of previous years. Pizza dough breadsticks, don’t bother, they are a texture of bread for dipping in lasagne sauce and nothing else - they were not giving for flavour. The mozzarella garlic bread was a bit of fun, it was like hey I’m cheesy and delicious but do not wait for me to cool otherwise I turn to the bland the soul of the colleague you never want to be left alone with.
Now to (my) main event which was the sloppy Giuseppe - look it wasn’t sloppy. It was more like the Sahara meets cheese and toppings, which was utterly disappointing unless I set my expectations too high. Did I eat it all? Absolutely. Did I think it was value for money based on the advertising? Absolutely not.
So all in all a solid 3/5 - the vibes in the restaurant were sending ‘staff wanted to get f* home’ and maybe that’s because we walked in to order at 8:30 on a Friday night, so who can really blame them? But it would have been nice to have some service, maybe even some eye contact after the food was delivered...
Read moreVisited last night October 17th for a leaving meal for our two friends. Upon arrival myself and my partner who booked our table were greated with a warm welcome and quickly shown to our table. Our friends joined shortly after and once settled the waitress quickly took our drinks order and allowed us time to review the menu for our choices.
Myself and my partner had the Mushroom Aronchini starters which were Devine! Our friends had the lemon chicken wings and both loved them.
For our mains we had 3 of the American hot romana pizzas and my partner had the bbq beef burnt pizza, the pizza sizes are huge! We couldn’t finish them and our waitress quickly boxed these up so we could take home.
We didn’t have dessert as we were all on the verge of a food coma! But we did enjoy a shot each of limoncello or peach alternative for my friend.
The service, food and atmosphere was on par and we very much enjoyed ourselves!
I did ask for the waitress and manageress’s name on leaving, they did provide this but sadly as we on for drinks after I have totally forgotten their names! But I truly hope this review is passed on to them to provide our thanks for a lovely meal, evening and quite frankly very friendly staff!
We will definitely...
Read moreI forgot to review this after visiting at the start of this month. I came to Fleet for the hair and makeup trial for my upcoming wedding, and wanting to make the most of my fancy face, my fiance and I decided to have a lunch date here.
The waiter was lovely and helped us both with any questions we had about the menu (we were both ordering from the vegan menu). I also very much enjoyed looking for all the hidden octopus toys around the restaurant. What a great fun idea for children (and as it turns out, adults too). It gave us a great chuckle. The food was great. We both shared our pizzas and they were both lovely. Cannot remember for the life of me what we ordered (I think mine had artichoke on it).
Also, after eating, we both visited the toilets and found them to be clean, and everything you'd expect from a restaurant bathroom.
Thanks for such a lovely lunch. We had a wonderful time and if we ever find ourselves in Fleet again, we'll be...
