A very long established , respected, bakery and café with several outlets in the local area. This family business is a great alternative to the national coffee house chains such as Costa, especially if you want a wider choice of food.

The coffee is very good and if syrups are your thing there's plenty to choose from.

As for cakes, sandwiches, hot snacks etc. you won't know what to choose. Everything is extra large and excellent quality.

Service has always been fast and efficient and there's plenty of seating upstairs and down.

I see some people are saying it's expensive and I guess if you're comparing the price of a sandwich here to one elsewhere it may seem pricey. But you get what you've paid for, quality. A decent, generous filling, in thickly sliced fresh bread from their bakery (your choice white, brown etc)

If I had one criticism it would be the buy ten get one free drink scheme. It's the old paper card stamping scheme and they aren't very good at telling you about it or reminding you about the card when purchasing. It needs modernizing with a plastic card scheme. It would be wider used and easier to remember.

Finally, yes, these Viennese whirls really are as wide and thick as they look. They make the usual branded boxed Viennese whirls in supermarkets look pathetic in comparison and are a thousand...

Being a northerner I have to say not many independent businesses last very long. Hastings is very different with lots of independent cafes, bars and restaurants. I regularly travel down to Hastings and this time to quench my coffee addiction I tried a new coffee cafe called 1066 What to say?! As soon as I walked the staff were automatically friendly and very welcoming. From the amazing food display and and fantastic smells as you walk in, 1066 is a beauty and Hastings. The croissant and coffee was delectable. You can tell it is all fresh made. The cafe itself is clean and and has a homely atmosphere to it This is now a new favourite each I come to Hastings now To all the staff, keep up the good work and the winning formula you...

17th August 2021 Looks great and has tremendous seating space BUT serves horrible food. Ordered Cheese and Tomato sandwich, Mango/Pineapple/coconut smoothie and carrot cake slice.

#Mango Smoothie: There was hardly flavour of mango and it was overpowered by pineapple and not in a good way. Tasted artificial.

#Cheese ans Tomato Sandwich: It was literally cheese slice and 2 slice tomatoes in 2 white breads. #horrible I thought that it was grilled s/w, so asked them to grill it and they charged £ 20p extra. Still the taste was bad. Don't know what cheese they used but it smelled and tasted bad.

#Carrot cake slice: TOO SWEET. I have had better.

Overall, BAD FOOD and horrible experience.
