I have wanted to go here forever for a pie and a pint. But you know, sometimes the universe has other ideas. Today, everything aligned and I finally got to give it a try! And it was so worth the wait!! I had the steak pie, chips and gravy; every single thing was absolutely delicious, not forgetting to mention the amazing pint of rhubarb cider and also by some galactic coincidence BeeGees playing (personal favourite!) It is the pub and staff and grub that you so wish was your local, but, will have to make do it with making sure we definitely return some time soon. Believe the hype, it's really good 💖

Place was recommended but sadly I was hugely disappointed with The Albion. Let's start with the caveated positive, the pies are decent. Pastry was flaky and the filling soft as you would expect. Mash and gravy were also good although my pie was barely warm but the sauce just about compensated. It was all served on cold plates which didn't help. Anyway all in all ok but not exceptional, price reasonable enough. Worth noting I had to season the food too. The service was atrocious. Basically a bunch of people staring at mobile phones forgetting what they were supposed to be doing. A table next to us for 'Keith and Joy' hadn't been cleared even though they had left sometime past. Its off putting to see dirty crockery left for so long, it was partially cleared just before we left so had been there at least 90 minutes. Worth noting the venue was practically empty so there was no obvious reason for this cleanliness issue. Our bill was wrong although I didn't notice until we got home. We weren't charged for drinks that we had but were charged for sides which were included in the price. Suspect it balanced out but again shows how the staff were distracted by their mobile phones. We were offered a bowl of water for the dogs which arrived some fifteen minutes later. As for the venue, it's a bit tired. We moved table because the countertop could be made to move up and down with the faintest of touches. It was just all a bit grotty rather than rustic. I'm sure on a busy evening it may have been better but on our Wednesday afternoon visit it was all a bit casual and average.

Amazing pie! I ate a pie here before lockdown (ii) because friends kept telling me I should try a famous Albion pie. I did not know how good a pie could taste until that day, how can a pie good taste so good? A delicious steak and ale filling and the pastry was excellent. The sides were great too, try the veg with the melted cheese on top and the greens. Nice pub and staff in there too. Can't wait to try more of their pies.

It's all about the pies here! Top notch pies in a traditional pub with wood panelling and a woodfire stove. The pork pie ploughman's is epic. Not only do you get a big pork pies but it also comes with bread, butter, 4 different cheeses, salad, pickles, and sauce. The chicken leek and ham pie was delicious. Chips are chunky and really good. Staff are lovely. They also do live music and events in the evenings.

Great music and a nice place overall. Walked passed on the way to the station and thought I'd pop in. I then stayed a couple hours lol.
