The Old Fashioned Candy Shop — Local services in Hastings

Really cute little shop with a really impressive selection of candy!! I took my son into the store after a long day in the old town, he really wanted Candy Floss and I was impressed to see a wide variety of tubs including Sugar Free!! (unfortunately my son can read, so there was no tricking him) They had a good range of rock candy, candy toys, fudge and smaller bags of 'penny sweets'. Definitely something for everyone. The prices were very reasonable, some of the items I purchased were very cheap but the quality was not lacking! For such a small space, the shop was laid out well, not very wheelchair accessible so that may pose an issue for some. However the people serving were so friendly and polite that I'm sure they'd cater to any accessibility needs. The staff were wearing face shields, which was great for me as I lip read so I didn't struggle to communicate and there was a screen between us for extra protection while purchasing. I was able to pay contactless which I prefer, they were also taking cash payments.

I stumbled across this excellent shop during my visit to Hastings. I decided to see if they had any of my childhood favourites, which they did! They have a vast selection. However, I found the staff to be insulting and unhelpful. I had a bottle of water in my hand, as the weather was extremely hot that day. As I was collecting the rocks in my hand, the bottle fell on the floor, and the lid flew off. The water got all over the floor. First time down fo Hastings and I came across this shop, I was blown away by how friendly and knowledgeable the staff were and how much choice they had in store.
