This restaurant, until fairly recently, was run by a family, Father and two Daughters. Terrific chap, understood exactly what you wanted, with him happy to get the Chef to tweak things for you as in "more chillies". The food was always superb. We were away for several months, in Asia as it happens, returning to discover that the restaurant had changed hands. The great combined delight and fear with new people is that the food will be better, the delight part, or worse, the fear part. Mind you, that said, could it be better. On our first visit we found ourselves in delight mode as opposed to fear mode, in that the food was as good as always, delicious as ever with none of the usual warm Thai hospitality lost. The added addition is that they now have a licence for booze, so no more "opps, forgot" dashes to the nearest off licence to get some wine. Where you like traditional Thai food, not the watered down version for the English palette, then you must go eat here. One recommendation/request for the restaurant, can you add 'Crying Tiger' to the menu, as this is just the...
Read moreSO disappointed. My partner and i went here for lunch after taking notice whilst walking past, everything seemed lovely to begin with. We had nice window seats, really lovely drinks and my partner enjoyed his starter (we both ordered the pork dumplings, mine had hard almost bone like bits in that i couldn't chew which i found very off putting.) Then came the mains, we were so excited as they looked really good... Immediately my partner noticed a hair in his food (he ordered some sort of noodle dish) we can understand one hair accidentally falling in so he took it out and tried to forget about it. His food looked good and i wanted to try some, I went to have a bit only to be met with more hairs, we dug through the meal uncovering about 10 hairs all together. How in the world do 10 hairs manage to get in one single dish of food? The hairs were short and black... My partner has long-ish brown hair and i have even longer brown hair so they couldn't have been ours. Seeing them in his food put me off my food completely, such a shame because i was really...
Read moreWe recently booked a Christmas dinner for six at Jasmine Thai on the Hastings seafront, a restaurant we’ve visited a few times before and frequently order takeaways from. The food, as always, was consistently good, which we greatly appreciated.
However, we felt let down by a lack of festive atmosphere and an inattentive service. The venue and our table felt devoid of the Christmas vibe we had hoped for, and the service came across as careless, if not outright rude.
One instance stood out: a member of our party, who arrived ten minutes early, was left standing by the entrance, even though smaller tables were available where she could have waited comfortably with a drink. Later, we were not informed that the kitchen had closed before being asked about dessert, leaving us disappointed. Most strikingly, as we left the restaurant, the entire staff was absent from the dining area—no one acknowledged or thanked us as we were leaving. We are not sure what happened, nor will we have find out, as we do not...
