Promenade Fish Bar — Local services in Hastings

Overcharged the woman service before, she pointed it out and they rejected her a refund of what she was overcharged, but she left it.Then we decided to count how much we should have been charged (prices clearly displayed next to the takeaway window) and they had overcharged us too. They argued with us and didn’t want to refund us the clear difference in price (£2), she tried saying that we were going to sit on the tables, which we weren’t, but this wasn’t advertised either. No apology for over charging us and totally rude once we had pointed it out, which we had pointed out politely by the way. When the food was ready she pretty much shouted in my face ‘DO YOU WANT SALT AND VINEGAR WELL DO IT YOURSELF BECAUSE I WILL DO LOTS’- clearly angry at us but was honestly kind of a comical thing to try and say in an intimidating way. The fact they did it to the woman before us clearly shows they do it to all customers- just up your prices if you need to!!!!

Food wasn’t great either, cod was fishy and I half suspect it wasn’t actually cod and was that cheaper alternative that looks/tastes similar, the flakes of fish were very thin and slightly curved in the center- not like cod! Chips were average.

Third time’s a charm with this unassuming little fish bar on the Hastings Promenade. It was previously run by two ladies and has for the last three months been taken over by an Italian family. Now those of you who know food know this is a GOOD thing! I’ve been to this restaurant twice before with my two kids, and I can honestly say that the fish and chips now served at the Promenade is a definite step up from the already high standard attained by the previous owners. The chips. THE CHIPS. Absolutely perfect. Crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside and with that lovely double fried taste with not a hint of grease. Gorgeous batter on the fish completed a full house of boxes ticked for us. Bonuses? It arrived quickly (freshly cooked) and was inexpensive. I really can’t understand why you’d need to go...

I've Lived in Hastings for 5years now and I have to say.. me and my VERY picky children agree it's the best place to grab ya fish and chips. Not only is the food cooked fresh. The staff are so lovely, very welcoming and friendly. I always eat here when we hit the beach and everyone I know that travels from London eat here to.. came in yesturday with family who was visiting and they to thoroughly enjoyed it here, with food prices everywhere eating out are going up their prices are cheaper I found(..to good to be true tbh!)
