Compact and bijou bar in the centre of Glossop, handy for the bus or train or the local taxi rank, which serves good bar food and guest beers at very reasonable prices. Decor is stripped down scandi with handy bag hooks scattered around and the seating is bar stools at high and low tables. The unit is at street level so wheelchair access is possible but I struggle to imagine a wheelchair in that space. Along the window is a high table and high stools allowing quaffers a view over Norfolk square which is great for people watching. The good stuff: alcohol is reasonably priced and guest ales are curated from local breweries. Last time I was there I sampled a "Ferris Muler" which was delicious. Food is mostly burger, steak bites, fries but there's an eclectic mix and it changes regularly so it's worth checking the website for what's on, and what days they are open. Very disappointing. This place is closed 3 days per week so you’d think they could get the beer lines cleaned in time for reopening but no we were served vinegar and they couldn’t sort it out so had to have a different drink. Service was appallingly slow, 2 hrs for a main and desert each, 4 of us, and then they get one of the mains order wrong and it had taken so long we couldn’t face waiting for it to be changed. Tables far too small for 4 people and too close together making it claustrophobic. We did get a massive £4 off the bill tho for the inconvenience, wow. We won’t need to bother with this pace again. Let me say firstly, that I am sorry to give a review that may prove disappointing. My visit was on a wet Winter Sunday afternoon, I only tried one of the house-brewed beers, none of the food. While the beer was fine, and the staff friendly and attentive, I feel the decor and furniture of the place lets it down. The stools, and high chairs for wall benches, make it feel that customers are not meant to stay too long. Had the furnishings been more comfortable and warming it might make people stay longer to enjoy. It has the air of a cafe rather than a bar. I will visit again in...
