It’s something of a pandemic of miserable service everywhere you go in this country; it seems a basic greeting as you enter a place of service is now completely passé and it’s no different at Twig. In fact when you proactively greet the girls here what you get at BEST is a blank, unimpressed glance in return as they impatiently await what you want from them. The best I got one day was a ‘yes!?’, as an invitation to make my order. Abysmal social skills, dead behind the eyes kind of service which is a shame as the food is good. Drink are fine but again would certainly be a lot better if the staff possessed / were taught actual (barista) skills. English hospitality and supposed politeness is dead and this place is a shining example. As for its rating, I can only surmise that the population has become so used to this low level of service they actually think it’s a nice experience to be served a poorly mixed hot chocolate with half the contents on the saucer. Suppose there’s worse places but you won’t catch me...
Read moreVisited the recently renovated cafe on Saturday morning. Lots of tables were dirty, hadn't been cleaned so it was difficult to find somewhere to sit. They don't sell breakfast type items apart from a toasted tea cake or croissant (other pastries) so I ordered the last toasted tea cake and a cheese and tomato toastie. The waitress brought the all the food items separately before the drinks, item by item. The teacake was burnt to a crisp and the toastie was non-descript, without any side salad or dressing. Quite grim. I mentioned the state of the teacake to the waitress who brought over the food and she just said that was all they had and "sorry". Really bad experience, and overpriced for the substandard food and service. A real shame as the Glossop branch is the complete opposite- great staff, clean, tidy, decent selection of consumables. Definitely won't...
Read moreStar rating based on this week's experience! We go every Sunday and the service, food and coffee is usually 100% spot on. Today not so much! Firstly we ordered brown toast and white appeared, fair enough easy mistake. We then as treat ordered cinnamon bun. This came out cold and hard so we took it back and asked to warm it up, 10mins later it reappeared warm but as we got to the centre it was completely frozen. We took it back and was told "we can microwave it?" At this point we just gave up, no apology or refund offered. The real problem today wasn't the food or the atmosphere it was the staff. As accommodating as they are they didn't have a clue what to do or how to resolve an issue. They are all very young and in my opinion need some...
