I just visited the sailing club to dine at the restaurant upstairs,Spinnakers which I must say is excellent. However, you have to go downstairs to the Sailing club to order drinks on doing so with my grandson,I was trying to remember the drinks order for five, and the Barmaid who I believe is called Gwyneth ( should be called "Snarling Dragon ")was huffing and puffing, and being quite disagreeable,I then left to go back upstairs to the Spinnakers restaurant. When I required another order of drinks I returned downstairs to the bar where I was told "You have to take your cap off " in front of other customers in the bar in a humiliating and belittling manner ( I have not seen any signs in the bar stating that requirement ) I told her that her attitude was a disgrace took my family, and left.I do feel sorry for Sue upstairs who is trying to set up a business, but the welcome downstairs leaves a lot to be desired......P.S.If Gwyneth the dragon is reading this the way to go about this sort of thing is with a bit of tact, you take someone to one side, and say nicely would you mind removing your cap it's a downstairs rule or point to a sign if there is one. I would also like to point out that it is not " A well known Standard" in the restaurant upstairs in fact they do not mind at all if you are wearing a cap in the restaurant. The problem seems to be when you visit downstairs to the sailing club itself to purchase drinks to take back upstairs. Now if they have these rules so be it but Spinnaker customers are not necessarily Sailing club members so they should be made aware of the rule, maybe by signage or a note on the menu might help. The barmaid I had the misfortune to deal with would certainally benefit from a Customer...

Our afternoon was marred because we were unfortunate enough enough to secure seats next to the table occupied by the bar's wheelers and dealers. Our presence was clearly not welcomed by a couple of these individuals as their repeated comments made to the rest of their party were clearly audible, and not complementary at all. A classic case of 'committee members' thinking that they owned a portion of the seats, and woe betide anyone encroaching on their territory. A great shame, as the bar staff had no problem taking our money. Visitors therefore beware. Your money may be welcome, but you must know...
Read moreReally great. Very friendly Lady at the bar. The place is a bit old but it doesnt matter because its really cozy. The prices for the drinks are great. The restrooms are a bit old too but very clean. Not far from it is a little Shop where you can buy snacks, magazines and drink coffee and get something small to eat. (They have "homemade cheesecake" which you could also call "diabetes to eat" but its still really good ;) ). And for all the pokemon go players: There is an arena and a...
