Chez Joel — Restaurant in Horsham

A little after lunch period on a quiet Friday I found myself tempted by the display of salads & meets, the lady manager explained that they normally close at two & this was 20 past ish but kindly made us both up two very tasty baguettes for us to take away, we had previously purchased two bottles & she kindly lent us a bottle opener which we promised to return later on the same day, perhaps through the letterbox , I sort of forgot the little friendly village shop of my youth & how it all works, great experience will return one Saturday evening , jk. Ps... As promised a year later I returned to the little village bistro for an evening meal with a lady, well spaced out table for two by the window excellent small menu perfect, great atmosphere superb food / no rush table for the night, just about managed to share a desert, great experience...

I am amending my review. Mid last year I had a poor experience in Chez Joel, poor service with a frosty atmosphere and left without purchasing having been ignored.

I am happy to say that there has been a 100% change, whilst passing this morning I popped in as the smell emanating from Chez Joel compelled me to enter.

Inside I found the warm welcome and eagerness to help, I purchased a sausage roll still hot from the oven. I have to say that it is the best sausage roll I have had in years. I am so glad I decided to wait until I was on my way home to get one, other wise I would have purchased one Truffles and they are nowhere near as good as the one I had from Chez Joel. Chez Joel is unique. With it's mix of traditional French cuisine, continental decor, and old Tudor England just outside on the street, it gives the best of the French experience with English to fall back on if you're unsure. Speak French if you want to, and English if you don't!

Chex Joel operates a small cafe and delicatessen during the day, serving coffees, pastries, and splendid lunches. During Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings it turns into a smashing restaurant serving delicious French recipes, cooked to order.
