Truffles — Restaurant in Horsham

I took my four-year-old daughter for some baked goods , I spent £15. I wasn’t informed by the staff of the service policy so took our things and sat down, it was raining heavily outside.

After we sat down and started to eat, a member of staff bluntly came over and informed us that we would need to pay a 35% VAT charge if we want to eat at the tables. Now I appreciate that there are rules, but we should’ve been informed prior to purchasing if we wanted to eat in or out which we weren’t.

The fact that the member of staff had the nerve to come and tell us to leave because I refuse to pay 35% on top of my food, but had no regards for the fact that my little girl was there.

I like truffles bakery and always good selection of food to take away hot and cold. This one has a cafe with waitress service and good selection of food and drink to eat in. 3 stars as today sat outside for 30 minutes waiting for 7:30 opening to watch the assistant change the sign to waitress service and when let in to be told cafe does not open until 8am which was annoying as no indication on google or inside this was the case. Very unfriendly behaviour to people they dont know the system there. I wanted to buy sandwiches, because somebody told me about that delicious sandwiches ,and a cafe. I took the sandwichbox to the desk and wanted to order the cafe , I got the answer : PUT IT BACK !!! Not more ....... nobody explained ..then I sat a longer time on my table, no service, so I m gone ! I m 71 and disabled, not a nice experience, in a town, where the people are really friendly.
