Izmir Bar and Grill — Restaurant in Horsham

Waited an hour for our food which didn’t arrive despite us asking them to just bring it all out whenever it was ready. We then asked for it as take away because it had taken too long and we needed to leave. We were then told our meal would be “put on now” so they hadn’t even started it. (We’re still not sure why).

Another 30 mins goes by and we ask for a refund as we need to leave and weren’t happy with the service. (we’d paid earlier so we could leave quickly once finished - we were also over charged and luckily the waiter noticed and refunded that part). We’re told we can’t have a refund “because the food is ready”. At this point no one was in the kitchen because all the staff were eating their lunch and our bag of food had been sitting there for goodness knows how long.

We were denied refund and not given any sort of apology or explanation for why this happened.

There were 3 tables including our own and actually the table of 4 people with arguably more complicated dishes were served whilst we were still waiting. Despite arriving after us by at least 20 minutes.

Have been here a few times so didn’t expect this level of non service.

Oh and to kick it all off, when we opened the packets to check the food, the order was wrong 🙃

Mistakes are fine, they happen, but to refuse refund and not even apologise or acknowledge that perhaps this wasn’t handled the best is diabolical.

Worst experience in a Turkish...

Having tried other Turkish restaurants in Horsham which were great we thought we would try Izmir. What a disappointment!!! It seems it’s only interested in a younger clientele. Get you in, play loud music, get you out, close restaurant. We had a table booked for 8.30pm. We enjoyed our starters and main courses and were having a good time chatting and drinking with friends. Suddenly the bill was plonked on our table. We hadn’t been asked if we would like coffee, deserts, another drink and out dirty plates were still sitting in front of us. We ended up moving the plates onto another table as we were totally ignored while the staff, that were left, (most of them seemed to have left at 10 o’clock), starting setting up tables for the next day. We asked for a couple of beers as my friend and I still had half a bottle of wine to drink and we’re told no as the bar was closed. It was 10.11pm. We mentioned to the guy who appeared to be in charge our dissatisfaction who just shrugged and carried on looking at his phone. It’s a shame. Horsham is a great town and needs good restaurants. This is NOT one of them and I’m not sure why it’s there as they clearly have no interest in...

Absolutely Brilliant This was our first time here and we cannot recommend it enough. The food was absolutely delicious. Definitely some of the best Turkish food we have ever had.

The service was very efficient and they were so friendly and accommodating. We were really pleasantly surprised by how wonderful our experience was and will definitely be coming back here.

Our waitress Sophie was so friendly and service was spot on from beginning to end.

The food was all great but the Princess Chicken was out of this world. We also really enjoyed the chocolate cheesecake for dessert.

The restaurant is very spacious, clean with a brilliant atmosphere. They made sure they were COVID compliant but without impinging on the overall experience.

We look forward to coming back again and will definitely be recommending it to friends family...
