Xmas dinner 25/12/24 A very convivial atmosphere with very friendly and attentive staff. This is the good bit, now to the meals: The starters were tasty. A cheese souffle for me & a ham hock & chicken parfait for my partner - at least that's what he ordered but there was no parfait, instead cranberry sauce was substituted with no explanation. It tasted nice so we overlooked it. Dessert was millionaire choc fondant. Tasty but mine had no form to it. I guess it had been sitting awhile in the kitchen and melted. My partners on the other hand was freshly made after they first tried to give him the wrong dessert and his came out actually looking like you could eat it with a spoon rather than suck it through a straw like mine. So to the main event. My order was turkey dinner. No Brussels, no stuffing and no parsnips. There was a indistinguishable mushy concoction on the plate which I think may have contained some green stuff and perhaps unformed stuffing but it wasn't nice as the flavours didnt work together so I left it. My partner ordered rib eye surf and turf. He said the steak was lovely, but couldn't find the turf. We asked the waitress and she pointed out two shrimp sized pieces of something & said that was the turf. We still don't know what it was. The chips were hard and the onion 'ring' was a oil suffused hard inedible thing. We are of simple tastes, generally very content with well cooked and well presented food. We're not complainers but this was barely passable and certainly not worth the not inconsiderable price we paid. 3 stars given in recognition of the hardworking and...
Read moreOur service from staff was good, efficient with drinks etc. However our food was less than acceptable. My starter of prawns was warm but I would not say hot all the way through. My partner had chicken which he said was nice and hot. I did not mention to waitress at this point as did not want to make a fuss, as we were out for my partners birthday meal. We then got our mains and my ribs were cold. So I asked for a fresh plate, my partner had steak which he said was lovely. The waitress brought my ribs back and said that they had heated them up. I asked if this is normal process to reheat the product and then give back to customer. She said she was not sure. I was 32 weeks pregnant and obviously so, so thought this was strange to be given back re heated food. I tried to eat this and then ended up taking it back over to the food pass myself and spoke with I presume a manager who said would get a new one completely remade not just given back the previous meal I had already tried to eat but this was still cold.
The bill was kindly amended to reflect the issues with my meal and a complementary drink was added as well which was appreciated. However I was left feeling very disappointed by our food and our experience, I do think the staff did try to improve our experience, as we were also given a small dessert with "happy birthday" message on plate for my partner which was a nice gesture. Unfortunately, this did not change that we both ate in front of each other on my partners birthday. The effort of the staff to correct this was appreciated on...

Thank you to the front of house for our warm welcome, we arrive a little late but was very accommodating.
And thank you to Irvana (apologies if I have spelt it wrong) for great service!
My steak took me back in time I felt like Anton Ego tasting his ratatouille in Gusto’s restaurant… it took me back to a meal I remember having with my family in Holland as a child where I had my first real piece of steak 🥩. And it may just have managed to top it.
I was a little sceptical about going to a Miller and Carter initially as it’s a chain restaurant. If you think the same… Don’t.
Yes it’s not a cheap place to eat out and you cannot come into a respectful restaurant wearing anything less then smart casual as anyone who understands dress etiquette will respect.
I have flicked through some of the other reviews out of interest as my experience was so good that it baffled me to think that anyone could honestly/ reasonably leave a 1* review without being called Karen.
Take all reviews with a pinch of salt. It’s a very very good restaurant!
All in all,
If you like steak they will look after you and give you great advise on what steak to have cooked your...
