Called in as was close by. Firstly met by polite, friendly staff who welcomed us with our little dog. We were shown the choices of menu and options. My wife had the 3 course ÂŁ20 lunch option. For starters it was tempura coated vegetables with a katsu dip that was superb. It said it was a small plate but it certainly wasn't! Fresh, hot, beautiful tempura batter covered broccoli stems, aubergine, peppers, courgettes etc. Her main course was corn fed chicken supreme with fresh veg and dauphinoise potatoes. Again, a good sized portion of hot, fresh food. Her choice of dessert was cheesecake but she was so full she brought it home. Again, rather than just a lump of cheesecake, it came with fresh fruit. Lovely! My choice was a Vietnamese chicken curry which again was piping hot and tasty. The young men behind the bar and who served were polite and friendly. Not a massive menu choice but reasonably priced. Well...

The pub has recently changed hands so we wanted to head to try the new food offerings - boy, are we so glad we did! This pubs always been a favourite and will continue to be just that. We had dinner on a saturday night - lovely atmosphere! Had the camembert bread bowl to start - the best starter we’ve ever had! Its huge, amazing value and just DIVINE! We tried the korean chicken burger, poutine, chicken tenders for our mains, all absolutely stunning and finished off by trying the Pain au chocolat bread and butter pudding, stunning! Couldn’t recommend heading here for food more! We can’t wait to go back!

Headed back today (23rd August) for lunch - croque monsieur with added egg, foccaccia bread (bar snacks) and patatas brav-ish (bar snacks) - croque monsieur was a HUGE hit, ham that melts in the mouth and the cheese sauce...

My husband and I visited the Oliver Cromwell last night for the first time since it’s refurbishment. Always loved the old pub and pleased to see its retained its charm. The atmosphere was lovely and the furnishings comfortable. The new decor makes for pleasant surroundings too. We hadn’t planned to eat in there but having seen food arrive at the next table we were enticed to order the satay chicken wings and Parmesan and truffle chips. Both were superb. The pub was busy but the food came out in a timely manner and was hot. You won’t get a cheap snack here but if the food we had last night is anything to go by then it is certainly worth the price. Staff were friendly...

Stopped for lunch while in the area. I had a burger which came with lots of fries, a side salad and coleslaw. Really enjoyed the meal, especially the burger which had melted cheddar on top. It wasn't thick like burgers can be which made it perfect for me. Very tasty. The menu said it was homemade but it looked very much like a mass produced one to me, mainly because of the shape of it. Apologies if wrong! Enjoyed it all the same.

Had lunch on a Saturday. We had the CBLT, scotch egg and dirty fries. The food was delicious. A bit more expensive than average but totally worth it. Would definitely recommend and will be going back again. Staff all friendly and out order was taken quickly. The pub was really well layed out and bigger than it looks on the outside. The well with a glass top was a great touch.
