I had a brunch meeting in St. Ives for work on Tuesday, and chose the River Terrace, as I was a fan of their other venue, The Station House Histon, and I couldn't have been happier. The service from Abbie was both witty and informative, and really made us feel welcome. The coffee (and sour dough) from Hot Numbers was obviously the right choice, and was phenomenal. We even got to talk to owner/head chef David who was very friendly, much more so than you'd expect from a chef at a busy venue. I had the Romesco toast and two coffees, and my colleague had the Full English and it was absolutely beautiful as well as tasty and well priced. It did start to spot with rain, but the well placed, and high quality umbrellas kept us safe. I also spoke to the duty manager to pay my bill and he was incredibly charming, and apologies to the staff member who's lunch I disturbed on the way out, but he was also very lovely. Purely a 10/10 experience.

Disappointing. I love the Histon Station House branch so thought I'd give their new one a try. They were very busy (bookings only). Our waitress was completely disinterested. She wrongly told us the menu. We had to ask for kids menu. Ask for sugar and sweetener. Food was OK. I had overnight oats. It was very heavy/stodgy, stingy on the fruit and had a piece of pungent fresh mint in it. Now don't get me wrong I love fresh mint. But this is NOT somewhere it belonged. The flavour profile is totally wrong. Kid's pizzas were a hit. Wish they had a sugar free coffee syrup. One order asked for eggs specifically not be runny....they were runny. Umbrellas on terrace oddly placed so that most of your party will get wet if it rains. Location is lovely though. But I'll stick to the other branch, which is a shame.

Had brunch here for the first time last weekend and wondered why I’d never been here before?! St. Ives is a lovely place to visit, especially when the sun is shining, and The River Terrace is a gorgeous venue set against The River Ouse. A warm welcome was received when entering and we were given a lovely table upstairs next to a window with a rather fab view of the river. Food/drinks order was taken quickly and food arrived within 25mins. All food was generous, very tasty and well presented. All my family had the Full English and couldn’t of been happier with it. We’ll definitely visit again (soon I hope) to try lunch and maybe ask for a table on the beautiful outside terrace! 🤩🤩

Poor and slow service. Overpriced. Unhelpful.

Came for a quick bite to eat for lunch. Came into the cafe to be stood in the door way for 5min before even having a word spoken to us dispite the food service counter being right next to the door. We were then waiting for another 5 mins to be seated upstairs away from the main cafe completely on our own, which at this point would not have been an issue.

We then had our drinks order and main meal order taken. Our drinks came fairly quickly, however we were sat waiting over an hour for our food order (which consisted of 1 pie, 1 salad and 2 sandwiches, too long for these orders I feel!)

The sandwiches consisted of the sandwich and just a handful of bagged leaves, no dressing on the leaves and nothing else to accompany it.

The pie would have come with broccoli but as this was not a favourite of the consumer we asked for this to be changed and was told the only options were mushrooms or fresh uncooked tomatoes, not a great accompaniment for a pie.

The salad I personally thought looked quite nice (unfortunately I did not choose this for myself).

We never had a member of staff come and ask us if our food was okay, or whether we would need more drinks after the long wait. In fact the only time we saw staff was when they brought us our food or drinks.

We the proceeded down stairs to pay and express our concerns, to be told that we should have been informed there would be a 30min wait (which we were not, and also it was double this length we were waiting). An apology was only given after we express our food was also cold.

The food was okay, I felt it could have been better as the plates looked a little empty, and they could also have ensure the food was hot. But waiting over an hour for a order this size and type was utterly ridiculous

I feel we were forgotten and the staff seemed to be indifferent and inattentive would have expected more from this area and...

I’m thrilled to have one of my favourite local spots reopened and had a lot of excitement given it was also being taken by the Station House team. Menu is a great addition to St Ives, with brunch and casual pizzas for dinner. Coffee is Hot Numbers which is always great!

Obviously newly opened and there will be teething issues, however, I think the brunch menu is lacking some more lunch-type sandwich choices and light bites. I was also struck by the price of the items. They do compare with the top end of other great Cambridgeshire restaurants, however, I am not sure the food particularly stacks up yet. Portions look a bit scant and I had a very simple poached eggs on a single slice of toast - £6.95 without any additions.

I haven’t been for dinner or pizza yet, but the images of the pizza don’t encourage me to spend £14 when I can go to Scott’s in Cambridge for a similar price and get the best around.

Overall, the restaurant is still a great setting and seems committed to providing high quality local food. However, I would like to the price reflect the quality and provenance of ingredients and menu choices.

I’ll be back to try again after they have had more time to establish themselves, until then, it might be a coffee or a drink by...

Not a pleasant experience! We felt like trying this place for lunch as it looked lovely from the outside. We were served by a very rude waitress. When she came to take our food order my husband politely requested if he could make a small change to his burger. She didn't even let my husband finish his sentence and rudely interrupted to point out that we are not allowed to make any changes to the dishes. All he wanted was no mayo in his burger to which she said 'is it an allergy' in a very rude tone. We had to complain to the Manager who was apologetic on her behalf and lovely about the whole thing and did offer another table to us but the whole experience was ruined. That waitress came to the table during this conversation again but wasn't apologetic about her behaviour and was very rude again. The Mojito my husband ordered was tasteless! The Mocha I had was delicious though. At that point we just wanted to pay the bill and get out of there but waited ages for the bill. In the end they gave the drinks on the house but we are not the kind of people who want to get out of paying so offered to cover the drinks. The Manager however was lovely but the waiting staff were NOT pleasant at all. All in all a very bad...
