Wonât be returning - the owner is really rude! We came in asking to use tastecard as it says 25% off drinks on there. The lady behind the bar said no. We said oh but weâve used it before? Her response was that she was The owner and that sheâd ânever heard of itâ. When we showed her our phone she then got angry saying that sheâd asked them to take it off there (oh so you have heard of it and are lying to our face?) and wouldnât give us the discount. Then when we tried to use our PureGym discount and asked why we were being charged so much for the nachos she got more annoyed saying âare things that tightâ. To which we responded it should say on your menu if you are going to charge extra for toppings (this was just for jalapeños and guacamole - not any meat - which, the way it was worded on the menu, sounded like it was included and didnât specify extra costs). Felt like a cheap scam. Then I paid ÂŁ12.90 for a moving mountain burger which didnât even come with fries!! Are things that tight that you canât even include basic toppings in the price or fries with your burgers? So overpriced and extremely rude service. A shame as weâve been here a few times and the other servers are lovely but I wonât be giving my money to an owner who is so incredibly rude and tries to belittle customers. Also a smile goes a long way btw! Iâve been a waitress for 5 years and would never talk to someone that way. Itâs outrageous .    Read moreWent for a meal at The Taproom today as weâd been there a few times before for drinks/dinner and thought itâs a nice place for a Sunday brunch. Unfortunately one staff member was extremely rude and unprofessionalâspecifically a blonde female waitress/bartender whose attitude is simply not compatible for customer service.
In short, as the food was delivered there was a mix up with one of the ordersânot sure what happenedâbut it didnât matter since we had no chance to sort it out. The blonde staff member who delivered immediately became rude as we tried to figure it out. Stating, âThis is your orderâI heard you order itâ as she hastily placed it down and walked off with not another word. Never returned either. Her attitude was quite shocking and inconsiderate. Even the table next was surprised by her rudeness. We ate the food, which was okay, but changed plans immediately afterwards and met friends elsewhere to enjoy the afternoon.
Management might want to consider friendlier staff as this staff member will cost you money and businessâthey certainly did today. This place certainly has a nice vibe and great location, but there are many places in St. Ives with that that donât have rude staff. I can say weâll not come back while that staff member was there and wonât be recommending...
   Read moreWe had our Christmas party booking cancelled with three days notice and deposit returned without warning after asking why we had to pay the whole bill before the day of the booking and then if we could pay the bill individually (5 people). We had no problem with paying beforehand, we were just wondering why this was the case when only a deposit was necessary previously. There had also been a service charge added to the bill, which we didnât question, but on reflection is very presumptuous considering we hadnât experienced any service from the restaurant yet.
The manager was incredibly rude on the phone shouting âdon't bother coming if you canât payâ to my friend which brought her to tears. When we called back we were informed by another member of staff that the manager was âvery stressed at the momentâ and refusing to speak to us and that we would have our deposit refunded.
For the record, not once was anyone rude or aggressive towards the manager over the phone, we only rang to query the email asking for the full bill to be paid.
