I recently visited the Marina Café in Ipswich and was thoroughly impressed by their outstanding service, particularly in managing dietary needs and allergies. Awful awful experience. I had a meeting at the university early in the morning. Just needed a quick coffee beforehand. I was a wheelchair user with my family and as soon as I approached a round table with loads of space to get my wheelchair under. I was asked to move to a larger table, this table would have been difficult tiger my chair under and it seems unreasonable to move. I said it’s fine I was only getting a coffee and would be leaving soon for my important meeting. Then another male , I presume owner, came over and again aggressively asked us to move to ge larger table for no apparent reason. I felt embarrassed and extremely uncomfortable. The table was absolutely fine the cafe half empty. Loads of space around me. I didn’t want to be moved to another table. I felt so bad I decided to just leave. The customer service was appalling. I normally go to paddy and Scott’s but it was too early for them to open for my meeting. I won’t be coming back. Extremely disappointed customer service and rude staff. I hadn’t even had a chance to order a drink!! I wasn’t in the way or obstructing anyone. They saw my coming into he cafe in my wheelchair and made assumptions about me. It felt verging on discrimination. The way I was talked to was horrible. I’ll be making an official complaint via university. They rely on mostly university students and professors. We left hungry. Awful experince very bad food, order fish and chips and received cold fish it was frozen inside so I don t know how this can be possible they offer us to order another one or something else but for me was just enough when I saw how that was served they could check the temperature of the fish before serving, then kids fish fingers - full of oil my little one just couldn t eat it and he spit all out he just had the green peas and my husband some liver(not tasty at all) with mash potato( very old mash potato not fresh was in 2 colours) disgusting he eat some cause he was hungry and already angry because of my fish and he didn t want to complain more. Then a waiter came over and he said that we will not pay for drinks( was just a cappucino) and if we want a milkshake(that was on hold as dessert) will be free of charge but we didn't wanted and we cancel the order and we asked for the bill. My husband went to the till to make the payment and the other waitress that took our order when we came she charge us for everything even when my husband complained to her about the fish fingers. He just did t want to argue with them and he paid everything. So in the end just my husband had some food and we paid for everything. Disgusting never back. The worst experince.
