Overall a lovely place to eat out. Lunch date out with my wife, decided to try here. Looking at the menu, the lunch 2/3 course deals are certainly the more cost effective options. So for 2x 3 course meals with drinks and service charge came to £55. Food was really nice and didn't take long to come out. Most of the staff seemed really bubbly and welcoming, but our waiter seemed to have a aura of arrogance and although tolerable this was a little uncomfortable.

As for any review, people are only interested in the more negative points, and I feel these are fair to raise... and I only had 2.

First, the waiter came to our table to take our order, my wife started talking and saying what she wanted, then in a bizarre moment, he just suddenly stopped writing mid way throught ordering and walked off to literally serve another table... confused, my partner and I looked at each other like what's happening? He then came back like nothing had happened and carried on writing and then asked me for my order. We Felt it was slightly rude for a somewhat classy place to eat.

Second, the table next to us was slightly ahead of ordering, and they was also having the 3 course deal. They had also ordered the baklava for a dessert, and it arrived maybe 10mins before ours. I noticed straight away that my portion of baklava had 2x small squares and a small ice cream in a pot.... but I clearly recalled seeing the table next to us getting a portion of 3x squares and an ice cream pot.... I know this may sound petty, but I find it more about principle with consistency rather then the moan over the specifics.

So we paid the bill, with the service charge still on as most staff seemed lovely. We did overall enjoy it, but wasn't blown away like we were hoping...

These are my thoughts and feelings on kervan kitchen.

The food I thought was ok, sub par I would say given the prices, and I think you would only know that if you are used to eating well or varied meals.

The prawns were overcooked and therefore chewy.

The steak I ordered rare, but came medium rare, which is fine, I don't care to kick up a fuss, and ill accept what a chef sees fit to serve me first round. It doesn't come with cherry tomatoes as srated on the menu, which would have been a pleasant addition. rather its a half salad tomato, and to the refined palette the difference is night and day. The pepper corn sauce is actually what really grinded my gears, it was a thick congealed glob, salty and my catering experience and palette tell me it was actually chicken gravy granules with shallots and whole pepper corns thrown in. I did ask a waiter about this, but his demeanour and suggestion of watering it down put me off that exchange.

My partner had the lamb kofta in a rich tomato sauce, which was quite nice, the bread, and accompanying sauces were also very nice.

baklava was nice as was the accompanying ice cream.

Most members of staff were nice, and came across as generally pleasant, especially the lady at the front, yes I was asked if everything was OK, but again I'm not one to send food back or kick up a fuss, this reviews serves as a purpose for the fellow foodies in ipswich who would rather not be disappointed.

Overall, I feel the extravagance of the restaurant makes you think the higher price tag is warranted, and frankly I don't think the food is worth it when there are an abundance of Turkish restaurants that fair much better when it comes to quality and taste.

So im genuinely gutted to have to do this…As the staff are lovely. The place is higher end but styling is probably not to everyone’s liking. Service is excellent. Attentive and always paying attention. The complimentary bread and sauce is honestly delicious! I could get full just eating that. I am not a first time visitor of this place. I really wanted to like it… I tried the lamb the first time i went. The second time i tried the chicken and the last time i had the mixed seafood. And that will be the last time. The chef needs to be shot, then shot again for good measure. Guy does not know how to cook lamb, chicken or fish. The lamb was rock hard, i had the mix of ribs and chops. Honestly it was ridiculously hard. I forgave them and came back for chicken. That was drier than the sahara. I forgave it again and tried the fish. The mixed fish skewer was a joke. £26. It contained 1 (yes single) prawn, undercooked and 2 small chunks of salmon. 2 small chunks of monk fish. Rest is peppers- burnt, mushrooms- fully burnt. And i dont mind chargrill on them. Honestly, intent isn’t even to highlight the size of the portions either, but all pieces were overcooked. Whilst the single prawn was undercooked. I am not joking either, i really wish i was. As i tried real hard to like this place. However, i just can’t. You are paying £30-£40 at least per head. If you get a mains and just a coke. You want a mocktail or something fancy, might aswell round it up to £50. The quality of meat is actually good. There chef just loves gas mark 5. Guys get rid...

I visited Kervan Kitchen after an Ipswich football match, and while we expected it to be busy, the experience left a lot to be desired. The restaurant was packed, which is understandable given the timing, but it felt chaotic and poorly managed. The music was overly loud, and waitresses were rushing around with little control or structure. It didn’t feel like a relaxing environment to enjoy a meal. I ordered the Mixed Grill, described as a combination of lamb shish, chicken shish, and Adana grilled over charcoal. Unfortunately, this dish was a major letdown. It arrived with just six small pieces of meat and a single skewer, and shockingly, the lamb came cold. The chicken lacked any seasoning, and the food overall was tasteless, with no standout flavours at all. The chips were cold, and nearly half the plate was filled with a very basic salad that didn’t add much to the meal. At £26 for the mixed grill, and with a pint of Efes and service charge, the total spend came to just over £40, which is extremely poor value for what felt like a cheap takeaway meal dressed up as a restaurant experience. I’ve genuinely had better mixed grills from local kebab shops for a quarter of the price. Kervan Kitchen tries to market itself as an upmarket Turkish restaurant, but based on our visit, it falls far short. There’s no attention to detail, flavour, or presentation, and the atmosphere bordered on unpleasant. Sadly, I wouldn’t return or recommend it.
