The Mannings — Restaurant in Ipswich

Had my first visit to Mannings yesterday I always assumed it was a real ale type place with expensive drinks. I was wrong, it was neither of those things. Standard selection of drinks which were all very reasonably priced. It is an old building but there wasnt much in the way of character. The decor was nice with plenty of comfortable seats. Several TV screens dotted around the place showing sport. Bar staff friendly.

My daughter and I went to Mannings last week for a lunchtime drink. We sat outside, there was a nice atmosphere as it was a sunny day and there was live entertainment in the square, but I was shocked to find that a pint of lemonade was £3. I found this over the top, despite the pub's location. I could have had a pint of beer or lager for less. How can they justify these prices? Good location in the centre of town. Although it is an old premises it has had many makeovers and has little character. There is good seating outside, both out front on the square and at the back in a private yard. However, I hesitate to recommend it because it attracts some rather unsavoury characters.
