Jamaica Blue
I called in around 1pm ish which is lunchtime and the place was buzzing with customers eating and drinking their beverages.
The venue is nice spacious seating that extends to the back of the establishment, music is settle not screaming loud that you can’t hear yourself speak. The layout is cozy has a sort of rustic vibe with the hanging lights that gives out a warm glow, while the overhead mini led suspended lights aren’t too bright the temperature of the place is just right, could be that is still early spring.
The staff looked attentive there I were guess some new starts whom looked a bit lost but that goes for all places until you get the ropes and know what to do.
Needless to say the atmosphere has been very warm and pleasant will definitely call in again when in the area.
If you haven’t been before you should definitely check it out.
After ordering and getting a number I made my way to my seat which you find yourself and then place the number on the table for staff to bring your order over, food and coffee ordered about 6mins, my Americano (blue mountain beans) followed shortly with my bagel, will get to that in a moment with descriptions. Waiting time is acceptable, as I have waited longer in other places especially during busy times and this was lunch time 6 mins is pretty fast (how do I know it was around 6mins), well I normally play a game of chess when I wait and I looked at the clock on my phone when the staff brought over my coffee.
Even if you brew your own freshly ground coffee using beans and a V60 plus freshly boiled water it will take time and if you can’t wait for proper coffee etc. you really are going to the wrong place instead you need to go to fast food establishments not order and have your drink or drinks made fresh where the food is prepared and toasted when ordered not ready heated and waiting!
Blue mountain Americano £4.40
Taste mellow and nice sweet after taste aroma fragrant
“Try me bagel “ £7.20
Has red peppers chorizos Watercress rocket dressing balsamic oil vinegar
Soft toasted bagel cheese melted not overpowering the bagel is nice and chewy The chorizo is nice not overly salty can feel the aroma waffle through the nose when breathing out after biting overall it’s done nice not greasy at all
Having a bite of the side salad condiment then eating the bagel it compliments itself quite well giving a refreshing after bite, which I believe the balsamic dressing plays apart...
Read moreUnbelievable all day fry! I mean, I couldn’t believe the size of it and it was delicious! Service was extremely friendly too. Plenty of seating and whilst it is a large cafe seating wise, it was very intimate too. Loved the decor. Not a very quiet spot with the ventilation noise in the roof above but that’s seriously picking holes. Will definitely be back as there’s quite a few things on the menu I’d like to try. Brilliant addition to Forestside. Just need you to open in the city centre too!! All day breakfast and tea was £13.
Back again and this time the sourdough bread with the fry was like a brick and you had to saw through it. Egg and sausage bagel was delicious. It had cheese and bacon on it too. Fit the fry I had to wait ages for sauce. Otherwise everything else was spot on. Hot chocolate and a rocky road went down well also.
A super place.
Update - returned on a Friday and the place was bunged. I left and returned at 3.30pm. The kitchen closes relatively early and there was only two pre-prepared savoury food left - a bagel and a panini. There were a couple of tray bakes but it wasn’t a great selection. 3/4 of the tables were covered with dirty dishes, crumbs and mess over the clearer tables, missing menus from the tables, serviettes on the floor around tables along with crumbs and a spoon lying on the floor. Gross. Had to stand for ages for service as the lady on the till was doing coffees on the machine. Really poorly staffed on a Friday and no doubt not much different on a Saturday. What started off as 5 ⭐️ is now down to 3 as it was that bad. The chorizo bagel was meh - bland and lacking punch and hard to...
Read moreWe placed an order on Deliveroo. All the updates came through saying the store has accepted your order….two hours later we receive and update saying your order is on its way. The driver then calls me and says sorry but the store has said you have cancelled your oder! I can’t get through to the store because they have no phone number. The driver has no number for them either. I have no choice but to take my disabled partner in the car with me and drive up to the store myself to get my food. My partner was in a lot of pain and this was very difficult for him but I couldn’t leave him on his own. I get to the store and the waitress says “oh sorry we were too busy to make your order” I have never heard this in my life! A store is too buy to make someone’s order so accepts it and keeps them waiting for two hours!!! Absolutely ridiculous! I can’t even report this to Deliveroo because the driver took my code to make it look like the food had been delivered. They shouldn’t offer a food delivery service if they can’t keep up with it. Why accept my order if it’s too busy? Why keep my waiting two hours?! Could have easily ordered from somewhere else and have already got it by now. Disgraceful. They couldn’t even make my food when I went up there to get it, even though I seen quite a few empty tables. All I could do was get a...
