Antep Kebab & Grill House — Restaurant in Isle of Wight

Just to update my review, 4 months later, this is my absolute go to kebab place. It's not perfect, but it's the best. Staff are very kind and approachable, and so is the owner, food is usually very good as well. Will keep coming back.

The only question i'd have for Antep, is when was the last time the fryer oil was replaced? Otherwise, great place!

Antep kebab is a brand new takeaway restaurant in the heart of Newport city centre. In a prime location on the highstreet, it's in a great location to visit and order from.

All new establishments will have growing pains. However, Antep is doing exceedingly well with the fact they've only been open for about a week, and their quality has not lacked!

With a friendly owner, and responsive staff, they work well in the small shop to get your food cooked for you. I've attached photos of the menu and some food items i have previously purchased.

The food is reasonably priced, with great quality and taste, and the owner has also advised me that they'll be setting up BLUELIGHT and DEFENCE DISCOUNT card offers for those eligible, accross the menu which is fantastic!

Antep is a takeaway establishment mainly, however i did notice one small table and chairs inside, so you can sit down and wait. It is a small building so there's not really any room for restaurant service.

Antep currently does offer delivery services, however only to Newport and surrounding areas, the rest of the island is currently not delivered too. Information about delivery is on their website, however it is a bit difficult to navigate and not very user friendly.

Inside the establishment is a little bit lacking, however this is to be expected as they've only just opened. This fact is the reasoning behind the 4 stars and not 5, solely because whilst you're waiting for your food, there's nothing really to occupy your time with, and nowhere to really sit. I would advise to remove the small table and set up a row of seating for people to wait, and to put up some posters, maybe a television playing the news or music or youtube, just something to occupy a waiting customers time so people are not just standing there bored.

Food & service is 100% 5 stars, just the atmosphere lacking a little bit.

I would strongly recommend giving Antep a go and...

I’ve been here before when it was run by the previous owners and it was very average kebabs but now it’s called Antep Grill House and has different owners/staff. FINALLY the Isle of Wight now has a VERY good kebab house.

The staff are brilliant, fast working, very friendly, polite and professional - actually I would say it’s probably the best customer service I have ever received in a Turkish Kebab house and I have been to many different ones over the years. They obviously value their customers here which makes a nice change! They even gave me some extra cheesy garlic bread which was a really nice gesture.

I ordered 2 x regular lamb doner kebabs with salad and a large chips. The doner meat is properly hand carved with a carving knife (not with one of those awful electric carvers that make the really thin slices) so it is properly carved and cooked perfectly with some nice colour to it (unlike some horrible pale looking doner meat I have had in the past from other kebab houses) and the meat is full of flavour and is by far the best doner meat I have had on the Isle of Wight. The salad was so fresh and I really enjoyed it and the chips are a generous portion and cooked perfectly. The pitta bread was nice and fresh and the cheesy garlic bread was lovely so thank you guys.

I highly recommend this kebab house and I will be coming back again and again. Message to staff, Keep doing what you do and don’t change anything. :-) Antep Grill House = 5...

I popped in here yesterday as I saw they have a good star rating. I'm not surprised. I ordered their large chicken doner kebab. The staff were very friendly and had my food ready in quick time, even though they freshly carved it for my order. I asked for cabbage, onions garlic sauce and chilli sauce.

I have to say, this was one of the best chicken doners I have had in my life. The chicken was so succulent, with no fatty bits. The chicken was absolutely bursting with flavour. The cabbage and onion was sliced thinly to perfection, with the onion not overpowering the kebab. Both the onion and cabbage was made with care. There was a slight oil dressing along with them incorporating sumac into it as well as a citrus juice, which elevated the flavours enormously. This was no plain salad that you find elsewhere.

The garlic sauce was very tasty. The chilli sauce is probably the best I have ever tried at a kebab shop. It had tonnes of flavour, without being overly hot by any means. It was refreshing to have a decent chilli sauce that wasn't just about heat, rather than flavour.

I really can't fault my meal from here, and next time I'm in Newport, I will certainly be going...
