PizzaExpress — Restaurant in Kirklees

Our order was taken promptly and our drinks and starters arrived promptly. Waitress extremely pleasant. Waited a further hour without any sign of mains arriving, so I told the manager our 4 year old had waited long enough and was becoming unsettled. The restaurant was very quiet at this time. The mains arrived very shortly after. To be fair we were offered a drink on the house as compensation, although this was declined, bar 1, and the manager and waitress were very apologetic.. We were given standard table knives to cut our pizza, a laborious, time consuming job. My son's calzone had far too much chilli in it and, he said, was much too spicy hot. I didn't like the taste of my pizza. Not like the previous incarnation. Perhaps it was something to do with the oil. There were many take-aways being dispatched and we think that these were being given priority over in-house meals, obviously a driven-by-the-pandemic trend. This was formerly a favourite eating place, but it will have to improve enormously before I venture there again. It is to be hoped that someone reads these critiques and...

Went in on a Sunday afternoon with wife and 2 kids. Was sat at a small table which was meant for 2 people. There were bigger tables, but for some reason given a tiny table. Asked where the PASTA section was in the menu. Which she pointed at. Choose 1 of 2 veg alleged pasta dishes. Was served some horrible aubergine dish which contained NO pasta at all. Did not eat it at all. The kids menu came with desserts. We asked for the bill, but not asked which desserts the kids wanted. Upon paying, my wife pointed out the PASTA dish we were told about, did not contain any pasta at all. But was not given an expiation. Just told its an Aubergine PASTA. How can a pasta dish contain no pasta! After paying I said, can we have the Desserts to take away as we were quite upset at that point. But was told as we have paid already, we cannot get it now, as it would have gone on the bill as 0 charge. So, paid for a kids meal what had desserts included, never asked which desserts we wanted, then when asked to have it, was told it too late! Disgusting service and will not be going to Pizza Xpress...

We have been visiting since the restaurant was first built and initially loved coming here. However, the last few visits haven't been great. Our latest visit was just poor.

We were a large party for my daughters birthday. They initially had us down for the wrong time (email said 17:00 but they said 19:00) but could still sit us. We then waited around 20 minutes before anyone even offered to give us a drink.

Once we had our drinks it was another 20 minutes before our food order was taken. Three peoples orders were out of stock so they had to choose something else.

Food arrived - one persons food didn't show up at all, one persons was wrong, and a side didn't come out. We ate our food, which was OK, and then tried to grab someone to get my daughters cake from the back.

They took forever to come out, but in fairness were kind enough to stay and sing for my daughter, which was nice. She loved that.

It's a real shame to see the place go downhill like this because we like Pizza Express. However, we won't be going back to this one as it's sinking faster than...
