Cafe Rain — Restaurant in Leeds

I came in here a very long time ago with a friend and we were ripped off of £2 but I really wanted to give this place another try/chance so came in again and I ordered the cheeseburger. The owner said "Is homemade OK? " and we said yes as we thought he meant the burgers are homemade not knowing he meant a whole different burger which was much more expensive so I, a student who doesn't have much money to begin with, got charged extra. It was misleading but he explained the meat was better and thicker however it was not what I wanted. I gave this place a second chance after convincing my friend that maybe last time when we got charged extra it was an accident and they finally agreed. I tried to be understanding but I will not come here again. Customer service? Non-existent. I don't even know how the other reviews are praising their customer service. The owner definitely has something against people who aren't white :/ At least try to smile at customers. Seemed like a lovely little cafe, lots of cakes but all I wanted was a drink and I kept getting asked, is that it? Don't you want anything else. I came from another city and was meeting an old school friend for a couple of hours. And every so often was asked if we want food as they preparing for lunch time, so they basically wanted us to leave.yet there were still a few empty tables. I was also short changed, so not impressed. Looks like quite a few people have had the same bad experience of rude owner. Even my children thought this was rude. So my friend and i had to cut our catch up short and leave. This is not good service to make people feel uncomfortable just because they only want a drink? The lady in the kitchen was lovely but the male owner was rude, I don't think I will go back I need to find another coffee shop where it is more relaxed and not pushing to buy more even when enough...

Came here a while ago and refuse to go back. I have no idea how people are praising the customer service when it is so blatantly non existent. Maybe the owner is just racist or just wants to rip off students who clearly don't want to make a fuss. Charged me and my friend extra without telling us the price changes which also weren't mentioned on the menu. When I was here with my friend we wanted to find a nice quiet cafe to study in for our exams but all through the experience the owner kept asking us if we were going to buy anything else to the point that it felt like he just didn't want us there even though there was only 2 other customers in the cafe. Absolutely terrible. If you want a good cafe in Pudsey I'd recommend Millie's Cafe which is just down the road. Much better customer service and experience there. Will never go back...
