Another great restaurant you could quite easily pass by without noticing. The location is slightly concealed as it is sat back from the main road.
The restaurant itself felt cosy and homely, very simple decor. One of the benefits of it being away from the main road was, it was quiet (no noise from traffic)
The staff are friendly and very helpful, allowing you the time required to browse the menu without constantly asking if you are ready to order.
We visited as a group of four and all ordered a variety of foods from the menu. There were no complaints about the food. The food was cooked fresh and tasted really nice, great portions and real nice flavours.
The desserts ordered were delicious and the teas were also fantastic . I highly recommend the "special darvish tea"
Overall, this was a great find and I would definitely recommend this place.
The only negative was, the pricing seemed a little expensive so, it wouldn't be a place I'd visit regularly but, I'd...
Read moreAbsolutely delicious food; fast and attentive service.
I had an aubergine starter with naan, and a checken kebab with saffron rice for the main. My drink was green tea.
The aubergine starter was perfectly spiced, and the naan was fresh, soft on the outside with a wee bit of delightful crisp in the middle. I used steps of naan to scoop up the aubergine and it was great together.
The chicken was soooo juicy, nicely cooked and the special Persian condiment next to the salt and pepper makes the flavour pop even more! The saffron rice came with some. Butter on the side, and It was fluffy and soft, delicious!
The tea was even better than I expected, with some mint leaves and other goodness in there too! The tealight to keep the pot warm was a nice touch.
The decor was lovely, nice atmosphere, good food and fantastic service....
Read morePersians do the best kobedah and rice in the world regardless of restaurant class. In Darvish the kobedah and rice was bad in every way. The kobedah meat smelled and tasted off. I had the bad taste of the meat in my mouth lingering for days. The most unforgivable thing was the rice which was served cold, dry and overcooked.
What was also odd was that the portion sizes were small. Normally Persian restaurant regardless of price fill the plate with a mound of rice and the meat is slightly too big for the plate. In Darvish the portion sizes looked like kids sizes. Its obvious they are trying to cut corners wherever they can.
This restaurant is milking and surviving on its Jamie Oliver visit which is tackily displayed everywhere. I am not sure what the quality of the food was like when he visited in 2011 but right now...
