While visiting friends in the area, they'd recommended Mythos as a hot spot for Greek food, but also a top contender against other eateries in the area. Before I came, expectations were high as I'm aware of the multiple awards Mythos has won for their Yeeros.
To start, I had the spinach and feta parcels and to be honest they were nice, but not mind blowing. I thought it would be flaky filo pastry but it wasn't, and it was quite dry overall. I think it would benefit with a dip to accompany, which I'm aware can be ordered separately.
For my main, I had the chicken yeeros wrap instead of the board. It was very nice, well seasoned, but I think shaved chicken can lose it's juiciness quite quickly. I think a shaved lamb would match much better. It's difficult to eat this as a wrap and easier to deconstruct, but each component from the chips to the Mythos sauce really worked together. Also, that Mythos sauce is so so good with creamy honey & mustard flavours.
For dessert, my fellow diners recommended the Orange Pie, but as they were ordering that I knew they would let me have a bite so I thought to go for the filo pastry custard cake. The Orange Pie is incredible and not to be missed, it ticks all the boxes and is a reasonable size. The filo custard cake was equally tasty and not to be missed.
From a service stand point, it was inconsistent, at first things came out quickly. It was a bit irritating that the starter I had ordered originally, the boar and butter beans, was sold out, and I was only told when they bought out the rest of my tables starters so I had to wait whilst everyone else ate. Bit of a mix up with the Pork and Chicken souvlaki, a member of the group can't eat pork so ordered chicken, but they were bought the pork. The wait between finishing our main and ordering our dessert, finishing our dessert and receiving our bill, and waiting to pay the bill was way too long. In total it must have taken an hour, and would have been longer if we hadn't gone up to the bar to pay in the end. This needs to be better, it was a Saturday evening and the restaurant wasn't fully booked.
Despite the above, I'd still give this place a go as it's well...
Read moreA Taste of Greece at Mythos
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mythos, a charming Greek restaurant located in Chapel Allerton. From the moment I stepped through the door, I was transported to the vibrant streets of Greece. The ambiance exuded warmth and authenticity, setting the stage for an unforgettable dining experience.
The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the Chicken Gyros Board. The succulent chicken, expertly seasoned and grilled to perfection, was served alongside a delightful array of accompaniments, including fresh tzatziki, crispy fries, and warm pita bread. Each bite was a symphony of flavors that danced on my palate, leaving me craving for more.
To complement the delectable dishes, I indulged in some of their signature cocktails. From classic favorites to innovative concoctions, each drink was meticulously crafted and bursting with flavor. The perfect accompaniment to my meal.
What truly set Mythos apart, however, was the exceptional service. From the moment I entered, I was greeted with genuine warmth and hospitality. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that my dining experience was nothing short of extraordinary, attentive to every detail and need.
In conclusion, my experience at Mythos was nothing short of magical. With its delicious cuisine, inviting ambiance, and impeccable service, it's no wonder this gem of a restaurant has quickly become a favorite among locals and visitors alike. I cannot wait to return and savor more of the culinary delights that Mythos has to...
Read moreEDIT: the morning after, several of us who dined are feeling quite ill. We all ate different things suggesting it's an issue in the kitchen. One of the group phoned and was told that they would talk to the kitchen staff but no mention of any refunds.
The food was lovely however service was really quite poor. Took half an hour to be seated for our pre booked table. Struggled to order drinks at the bar in this time as they usually only take drink orders at table. We were at our table for two hours and no drink orders were taken after we were seated. Paying was a nightmare as the poor waitress had to allocate meals to guests before the system could accept payment. I won't be rushing back unfortunately.
In response to the owners reply - thanks for reviewing CCTV but none of this is true for my party as our booking wasn't until 8pm. I'm not 100% sure if exact arrival time and seating time but it was around half an hour. We weren't seated within one minute and we certainly weren't seated at 19:21. There was no shouting at the waitress of any kind and we were very sympathetic towards her struggling with the system. We didn't refuse payment of any sort and were sat with both cash and cards out waiting to pay. There's no nastiness in my...
