What can be said about Get Baked that hasn't been said?
Service - Nothing to fault, its a takeaway joint so not expecting much and never fails!
Atmosphere - Same as above
Food - As far as classic American treats and dessert's go, you can't get better than Get Baked in all of Leeds!
Bruce - The emblematic cake himself! I've never ordered a Bruce and been disappointed, its always great even in its many variations. Every single one always delivers exactly what you expect, its pure decadence at it's most egregious. Not a fan of the raspberry caramel they sometimes use in the seasonal variants, I like the idea of the raspberry flavour but feel this could be refined. It would be nice to have a burst of raspberry tartness which the caramel doesn't deliver. Still, fantastic!
Cookies - People are seriously sleeping on the cookies, these are best cookies i've ever had. The Raspberry Glaze cookie? Are you kidding me. The Cinnamon Swirl? Get out. The chocolate marble? Leave me alone. They are SO GOOD.
Brownies - Brownies are a very personal thing, whether you like them more toward stodge or more of a structured thing. For me, GBs brownies could use a little more structure and often become a little too sickly. But again, personal preference.
Pies - Controversial take here but the pies never hit for me, and I've probably tried 10 different variations of the pies yet always find them to be a little underwhelming. When I think of a classic American dessert pie i'm thinking of the fruit component balancing the decadent sweet fillings. Every GB pie i've tried which has this component is quite disappointing and often tastes like canned fruit in syrup. Doesn't have the fresh fruity zing im looking for. Completely understandable if they do use canned fruit products as the sheer work this team puts into everything else is astounding! Even the pies without the fruit component often leave a lot to be desired, generally just sweet and im unable to pick out specific flavours in the taste profile.
Admittedly I am being picky here and there and on the whole nobody is doing desserts like GB! Their commitment to house made desserts is...
Read moreI ordered a Golden Bruce during their December campaign, which I was very excited to try. I had tried the regular Bruce once before, which I enjoyed, and I'm a big fan of caramel, so I was sure I'd enjoy Golden Bruce even more.
Unfortunately, this was not the case. The cake fell below expectation and satisfaction in terms of quality, which has a knock on impact on taste.
However, what was more poor than the quality of the cake was the quality of the customer service. When I brought my experience to GET BAKED's attention the response I got was very defensive, abrupt, combative and unhelpful.
I simply contacted as a dissatisfied customer who was airing their dissatisfaction. I initially made no reference to a refund or replacement, but was told I wouldn't receive either (even though I hadn't asked for anything).
There was no attempt on Get Baked's part to address my poor experience, and their defense was simply that they bake thousands of cakes every week with little to no complaints. Whether or not other people complain or have good or bad experiences is no business of mine. I was contacting as a private individual speaking only on behalf of myself and my own experience.
The arrogance to think that there's no scope for error when baking, in their own words, "thousands" of cakes a week is beyond comprehension.
The persona portrayed on their instagram account and in response to positive feedback is world's apart from their true colours, which become apparent anytime anyone makes a genuine complaint.
I eventually ended up receiving no response at all when I brought to their attention the fact that it is illegal as per UK law to deceive consumers in relation to their rights regarding refunds. Their silence speaks volumes.
I will absolutely be escalating this matter and reporting my experience and GET BAKED's unscrupulous practices to the relevant authorities/bodies. And to think, this could've all been avoided if their customer service had been slightly (and by slightly I mean 'a...
Read moreOh, dear reader, prepare your taste buds for a journey to the land of cocoa-induced euphoria! I recently had the pleasure (and by pleasure, I mean a joyous dance party in my mouth) of devouring Get Baked's Chocolate Bruce Cake, and let me tell you, it's a chocolatey extravaganza that deserves a standing ovation.
From the moment I laid eyes on this cake, I knew I was in for a wild ride. The packaging alone was enough to make me giggle with anticipation - it's like they captured the very essence of a cocoa bean's wildest dreams and wrapped it up in a bow tie. Bravo for setting the stage with that playful packaging, Get Baked!
Now, let's talk about the cake itself. If chocolate were a Broadway show, the Chocolate Bruce Cake would be the star. It's so rich and indulgent that even Willy Wonka would blush with envy. I took my first bite, and it was like being serenaded by a choir of chocolate angels. The layers were so moist and velvety, I half-expected them to break into a chocolatey rendition of "Sweet Symphony."
The chocolate flavor in this cake is so intense that I'm convinced there's a secret chocolate wizardry involved. I felt like I was on a magical journey through a cocoa forest, guided by a chocolate unicorn named Bruce. Hence, the name makes perfect sense – Chocolate Bruce Cake, you've cracked the code to my sweet tooth's heart!
I'm not usually one to engage in food-related fantasies, but with each bite, I found myself daydreaming of a world where everything is made of chocolate – chocolate furniture, chocolate pets, heck, even chocolate taxes would be welcome if they tasted like this cake.
In conclusion, Get Baked's Chocolate Bruce Cake is a triumph of confectionery genius. If you're a chocolate enthusiast, a cocoa aficionado, or just someone with a pulse, do yourself a favor and indulge in this divine creation. It's so good that I'm seriously considering taking up chocolate appreciation as my new hobby. Move over, fine wines; there's a new decadent...
