Apallimg service and disgraceful conduct.
This was not my first choice for a place to go but my brother and I wanted a comfy sit-down breakfast before he went to work so we pulled in.
We were met with awful, repetitive music blasting over the entrace and out into the car park.
Looking over the menu, there was no breakfast items per se, but a broad enough selection to perhaps call it brunch.
The staff we're unwelcoming to say the least. No greeting, no assistance, barely even a glance to acknowledge we had arrived. They were too fixated on talking amongst themselves.
We ordered 2 sandwiches and 2 orange juices which came to £25. The place was empty at this time so we moved to a seat in the far corner but still in view of the bar.
Each booth had its own personal TV showing sports which is about the only nice touch if thats what you're into (I am not).
40 minutes goes by and we still haven't had our food delivered. A new group of people have since entered the building and placed orders for drinks and have been given food.
We then asked the staff what was happening and suspected our food was given to this new group.
The staff member went to the kitchen investigate but snuck around the far side of tbe building away from us to retrieve the plates from the new group's table! She then attempted to bring it straight to us!
The foodxhad been sat with them for about 20 minutes and they had been picking at it inbetween their drinks. And yet the staff deemed it acceptable to take it from them and give it to us.
We refused the food, and elected to wait for a fresh delivery. This took a further 30 minutes before we'd had enough and needed to leave.
I returned to the bar and the staff told me they were making them fresh and it'll be anotbe 20 minutes, to which I told them not to bother and to refund me.
She agreed to do so, but only refunded me the price of the sandwiches but I have yet to even receive thia refund.
No other words beyond apalling...
Read moreVisited on 26th September with my family, following an earlier visit in August '21. On the 26th September I arrived in my car in the afternoon and parked in the car park, having seen the Euro Car Parks motif on the signs at the entrance, but not seeing anything which suggested that it was not also a pub car park which I intended for use as a paying customer. The car park had plenty of spaces available at the time.
My family & myself spent just short of 2 hours in the Taps spending £63 ( we had spent a little more than this sum on our previous visit also). But we did leave earlier than intended when a member of staff told us we had to vacate our table by 5 pm due to a prior booking, though I had seen no signs or placement notices telling me this to be the case. The staff were pleasant however and apart from this small annoyance, we enjoyed our food and drinks and left.
Imagine my surprise when I received a letter from Euro Car Parks thereafter, demanding a sum of £85 within 4 weeks ( less £50 if their arbitrary figure was paid within 14 days of the date on their letter).
On checking previous reviews I then saw that this isn't an isolated issue, & other pub customers have faced similar demands. I have to concede that I assumed that as a customer, spending good money at the pub, that the car park was provided for use as such and charges would only apply to car drivers using the car park as a convenience, and not as Taps customers.
The legality of the "fine" that Euro wish to impose is questionable in any case and I intend to look into this further, but to receive such a demand takes the gloss off my visit and has certainly tarnished any consideration of a future visit.
Basically, be aware of this car park & it's surprises, even if a customer at the...

I visited this pub last night with a group of 9 international students. We were overcharged by £3 when ordering 4 shots. Although the menu clearly states that 4 shots are £11, we were charged more for ordering 3 Tequila Rose and 1 Dead Man’s Finger (they had run out of Patron XO Cafe).
I politely raised the issue with a staff member who was friendly and understanding. However, the manager who came out was dismissive and unhelpful. First, she claimed the discount only applies if all 4 shots are the same – even though the receipt showed the discount applied to other mixed shots. She then blamed the till system and the staff member, and refused to refund the overcharge, saying “I know this is a difficult situation but there’s nothing I can do.”
When I asked, “Is there really nothing you can do?”, I was offered a free tequila shot Only If I bought another round. When I declined, she reluctantly gave me the free shot anyway – in a rude manner that made it seem like it was somehow our fault for asking.
It’s not about the £3 – it’s the way we were treated. What started as a polite question ended in a dismissive and unpleasant encounter. We left feeling unwelcome and disappointed. I would not recommend this place, especially to other students...
