I've been to Residence for food 3 times and the food, service & atmosphere all impress me every time.
I have also just used Residence as the venue for my birthday party and couldn't recommend them more highly. From my initial enquiry, through to 2 visits where I was given all the time I needed to plan our use of the space (despite the busy restaurant downstairs!), lots of emails back and forth to ensure the event would be everything I hoped, to the day of, the team - with a special shout-out to Emily - went above and beyond.
Emily listened to my ideas and offered practical ways to make them happen, meaning that I felt I was booking more than just a room but an events coordinator too! She was fully available to get stuck in to the set-up of my decorations on the day of the party, and I genuinely don't know how we would've managed this without her and her colleagues who also popped up when needed. They saved me from a lot of stress! Emily also added a thoughtful touch to the party by arranging for our 'cocktail of the night' to be available from the upstairs bar, rather than guests needing to go downstairs to order. Throughout the night, my friends kept commenting on how lovely all of the venue's staff were and how they'd never been to Residence before but will be back following their experience. We also all agreed that the food provided on the night was the best party food any of us had both seen and eaten, and I was extra impressed to notice that the buffet was topped back up throughout the night. Dietary requirements/allergies were also catered to perfectly, with an entirely vegetarian buffet on my request and lots of clearly labelled gluten free options for some of my friends who would usually struggle at an event like this.
I could go on and on as I 100% chose the right venue for my special milestone birthday. Thank...
Read moreWe came for a quick breakfast after running errands in Headingley. We thought we’d give this place a try despite being initially put off by the “instagrammy” decor/exterior which usually tells me the food might be rubbish and overpriced, but we were pleasantly surprised!
We both had full English breakfasts and a couple of coffees - mine was a chai latte and my husband’s a flat white. Both very nice, and one of the nicer chai lattes I’ve had.
The breakfasts were just under £14 each, a reasonable portion for the price but the quality was very good. Poached eggs were perfect, hash browns really fresh, and the sausage was delicious. Just a bit disappointed that for £14 you only get one sausage and only a teeny little bit of toast. Bacon was a little under for my liking but in the restaurant’s defence I didn’t ask for it to be crispy.
Staff were very friendly and attentive, and the place was busy but not heaving so we were served and paid up in about 45 minutes or so.
Would definitely visit again if we were around, but probably wouldn’t go out of my way to visit specifically for the food. Though I would like to try their huevos rancheros.
For £35 all in it was reasonably good value, just the portion size being a little...
Read moreThe ‘gluten free’ options may not be suitable for coeliacs due to the use of shared equipment in a small kitchen. I tried to discuss with staff if there was anything I could safely eat - there didnt appear to be. At least they were honest and customers with milder gluten intolerances may be satisfied.
The response below goes far beyond what the member of staff was able to tell me on the day - it sounds like some sensible measures are taken in the kitchen and it was more a matter of training for the staff member serving us to communicate these - I have therefore editted my review
** I’ve seen been back and was really well looked after and safely catered for by staff that had clearly been given special instructions wrt allergens. I’m pleased to say this business really listened and I’ll be delighted to eat there...
