Ichi Sushi — Restaurant in Leeds

I love Ichi Sushi!!!!

You have many Sushi options in Leeds, but don't overlook Ichi. They opened just over a year ago (2019)

At the moment there's no walk-in service which is a shame, it's all orders for delivery only.

They are on all the websites, Just Eat, Deliveroo, Uber Eats, etc. They also seem to have their "own" website for ordering but it's just some weird aggregate thing run by an outside company, not actually them. That company wants to make it seem like you're ordering direct from the restaurant. Their website is the same price as the other websites (if not slightly more expensive!) but with a worse app and no offers / discounts etc, so you almost always end up paying less using Uber Eats and it comes a lot faster. My advice would be to avoid their janky app and use Uber Eats!

All of their sushi is fresh and handmade, I won't recommend any particular menu option as they're all absolutely wonderful. My favourites are the various inside out rolls and the hot rice bowls!

You get good portions of wasabi, gari and soy sauce and the packaging and presentation is great.

Fresher and MUCH tastier than Wasabi, Itsu, Juci Sushi or any of the "fast food" style chains around Leeds. You are getting to the level of high grade...

Went to collect my order from Ichi Sushi, Chapel Allerton — but first, a tale of betrayal wrapped in seaweed.

Last time I ordered online, they mangled the Dragon Roll so badly it looked like it had lost a fight with a forklift. I messaged them, politely, like a gentleman who just wants his mythical eel-and-avocado fantasy to live its best life. To their credit, someone replied: “Let us know next time and we’ll give you a free one!”

Hope bloomed in my heart.

Fast-forward to today. I placed a new order. Mentioned the Dragon Debacle, as instructed. I even typed it nicely, like a man still foolish enough to believe in honour among maki.

Collected the order. No Dragon. No note. No mention. Just pure, silent sashimi-shaped gaslighting.

Did they forget? Did they see my message and laugh? Was there a ceremonial shredding of my dignity in the back room while they packed my edamame?

We’ll never know.

It’s not about the free roll. It’s about trust. About promises made in soy-stained DMs. About the dream of a world where sushi shops keep their word.

Alas. The Dragon is dead. And so...

I recently ordered the Chicken Katsu Curry from this sushi takeaway spot, and I was genuinely impressed.

The curry was rich and packed with flavor, with just the right amount of heat to make each bite exciting without being overwhelming. The chicken katsu was perfectly crispy on the outside while staying tender and juicy inside – truly delicious!

From reading other reviews, I can see why this place is so highly rated.
