I went to My Lahore just off Kirstall Road, Leeds for the first time, early on a Sunday afternoon. It was an impromptu visit and we had not booked. The restaurant opens at 1:00pm and we arrived there a few minutes before opening. Parking is provided on site which was handy as I was there with my wife and 11 month old child so no need to transfer to prams or pushchairs. On entering the restaurant we were kindly greeted and asked if we would like a high chair providing with our table. Replying we would like a highchair we were asked to take a seat by the door and our table would be prepared. On taking a seat we were able to look around the interior of the restaurant and both my wife and I were immediately impressed. First impressions were good and the restaurant appeared clean, modern and colourful. It takes the look of an up market cafe rather than a sophisticated restaurant, but this should not take anything away from the quality of the furniture, fixtures and fittings which are good. Within a minute of being seated our waiter came to collect us and we were shown to our table with the aforementioned highchair in position as requested.
Reviewing the menu we were immediately impressed by the wide selection of food offered on the menu. My Lahore brands itself as a British Asian kitchen and it achieves that balance well, although I would suggest there is an element of American diner, with burgers, fries, milkshakes and sundaes featuring in the menu.
The waiter serving us was friendly and courteous even stopping to smile and interact with our child which was nice to see. I ordered an Asian dish of chicken byriani. My wife ordered a chicken baguette with a side of sweet chilli fries. We also ordered some drinks ( by the way there is no alcohol license here ) which arrived shortly afterwards. While we were waiting for our main the manager came over to ask how we were and to ask if our child wanted a colouring book to entertain him. Although too young to undertake colouring it was nice to be offered.
After a moderate amount of time our food arrived and was delivered by the kitchen staff to the table. Our initial impression was good. The food was hot and had clearly come straight from the kitchen and had not been sitting on a hot plate before coming to our table. This is a big bug bear for my wife and so instantly scored some good points. The next point to notice was the portion size. These were good portions, and by that I mean large but not ridiculously large that you would not be able to finish. The food was tasty and my wife was very happy with her food. My byriani was good and not greasy at all; sometimes a case with this dish. A slight criticism is that there could have been slightly more chicken in the dish. Again during the meal the manager came over to ask if all was ok with our food including the level of spice in my dish ( I asked for medium and it was ).
Having finished the food we looked at the dessert menu for a weekend treat. Choosing a sundae and the strawberry cheesecake we were both pleased again with the portion size and quality.
Our overall impression of the restaurant was good. My Lahore seems to get the balance just right on number of fronts. This runs from the British Asian menu to the look and feel of the décor. What stood out for us most of all was the value for money which is offered here. Sure it's not the cheapest place, but neither is it the most expensive. What is hard to beat is the quality and quantity of what you get all for a...
Read moreMyLahore is an aisan restaurant with a modern look and some very tasty dishes. Location is Kirkstall Rd Leeds next to the famous ITV studios, definitely worth a visit if you plan a trip there or to the city centre. Parking spaces right outside the door for any diners who drive there. It's about a 15min walk from Leeds City centre. Easy access into the venue, no steps or ramps required. Good selection of starters, mains, deserts and drinks on the menu. The menu is accessed via the QR code on the table for you to view on your device. Don't let this put you off, this method is actually environmentally friendly as no paper is used, menus can be updated quickly and you are not handling something everyone else has previously passed around. All meals have a breif description about the food you are ordering with the usual chilli symbols to indicate how spicy they may be. A good selection of meals were available for people with different taste/ food requirements. On this occasion I opted for a Chicken stir fry with noodles. It had a 2 chilli indicator on the meal title. Rice or fries were also options for this meal. The meal was excellent in quality and taste, personally I thought it was a 1 chilli indicator but this suited me perfectly. Portion size was very good, I'm sure most customers are happy about this, there is nothing worse than going for a meal then still feeling hungry as you are walking out of the door. Waffles with brownies and ice cream was the desert and Mango juice was the choice of drink. Top Tip, if 2 of you decided on the Mango juice take the option of sharing a jug and you will get just over 2 glasses each compared to the price of 1 glass. A member of staff pointed this out to us when we placed our order, great customer service, staff were pleasant and polite, dressed very smart in their matching uniforms. Give this review a thumbs up if you think this will be...

The location is vibrant in a prime student area and good parking available which is always handy. Atmosphere was very busy as there was a party upstairs.
Food-
We ordered the chaat and the mix grill for starters and the butter Chicken, Lamb Karahi and the Tarka Daal with Garlic naan for main. Everything was nice and hot and cooked to a good standard. The garlic naan definitely needed more garlic tho.
Service-
Now this is where I felt really let down. We ordered our starters and received everything correctly however to our surprise we had no plates. I had to go get ourselves some plates and some cutlery from the side. I guess the waitress forgot. After 10 minutes into our starters our mains arrived (we specifically asked for starters first then mains after). There was no space on our table to add everything so we kindly asked her to take the mains back as we had not finished and there was no spaces she proceeded to tell us that it was not her fault, the kitchen had sent it out and she’s just the waitress. I personally thought this was an interesting comment to make to a paying customer. We then complained to the manager and he made sure she didn’t serve us for the rest of the night. We eventually did end up getting our mains. However, what made it worse was that the waitress was talking about us to her fellow colleagues and didn’t think we could hear her. It really is a shame as it was my dads birthday and kind of put a downer on the night.
Overall-
I always find mylahore food great and service has normally been quite good but I’m not sure what happened this time. I feel there needs to be more training dealing with customers and the basic principles of hospitality have been forgotten. I will definitely return but with the bad service, it really has left a...
