I visited here yesterday. It was my third visit. It is a pricey coffee shop but is nice inside. Great interior and there was a nice atmosphere.
I ordered a focaccia pizza which sounded delicious on the menu. It came and looked great. However, cutting it into slices I noticed there were lots of olives under the melted cheese embedded in the Focaccia. I detest olives and would not enjoy anything which tasted like them. I approached the counter to explain that it looks great but there are olives on it. I highlighted that it does not say anywhere on the menu that the Focaccia comes with olives. The barista looked at the menu and seemed confused and said “oh because it doesn’t specify?”. He then called over to his colleague who was sat at one of the tables and said “we have an olive situation” and the colleague remained seated saying “we can’t take them out, they are in the bread”. I asked for a refund which he did in silence.
Simple mistake made on the menu and I was completely respectfully returning it. Unfortunately, he handled it terribly.
On a menu, describe the main ingredients of the food (particularly something as strong tasting as olives). Don’t be surprised if a customer wants to return an item that is not matched to the menu description. Take some ownership and apologise to the customer for an incorrect menu meaning they either cannot eat or have to wait longer to eat in the limited time they have in the shop over lunchtime. Don’t call over to a colleague just to feel more comfortable when neither of you are taking accountability to the customer for the error. Don’t be arrogant and try act like the customer is somehow in the wrong.
It is a shame because it is quite a nice coffee shop. Further staff training probably needed around respectfully and maturely handling a return though. Won’t be in a...
Read moreWhen Starbucks stopped using Marzocco in 2004 for Mastrena machines - designed for consistent high volume output by the Swiss manufacturers, it gave them just what they wanted - press a button and go. As a result, serious coffee lovers around the world did just the same - they got up and went, and sought out independent Niche coffee houses that take coffee making seriously. These guys are in that Niche category, and for anyone visiting or frequenting Morley, this place needs to be in your address book as a "Go To". Using a Marzocco machine with a History dating back to the 1920's by the Bambi brothers in Scarperia Italy, it gives a skilled Barista more control in coffee making, and the reason why serious coffee houses spend such a large amount of money on them. Simply put Marzocco is the Ferrari of machines in coffee, whereas the other automatic high volume output machines are at best family saloons. So when we first visited Nesso and saw the Marzocco machine , we knew these guys were not amatuers, and the attention given to our drinks was proof positive these guys are skilled Baristas and here to make their mark. The drinks were superb and rank in the top percentile of Quality Coffee. The establishment is very tastefully decorated, and they've made the best with the space they have to work with, making for a relaxed ambience. Going even further, and this is where they start to shine, they have a food menu that breaks away from the mainstream offerings of alot of Coffee houses. Again this places them moreso into the Niche bracket - and away from the "Cattle Market". As a consequence, this will always be our " GO TO", and with such lovely and welcoming staff, would urge anyone who would like to try a real luxurious cup of...
