I visited the venue in leeds today and the service was well below standards. I took my 11 year old daughter for breakfast and was told they couldnt serve the mock tails that I wanted because it had a 0% alcohol shot in it. So I said can u not just leave the shot out because the only reason iv brought my daughter here is to show her the mocktails with the cherry on top. I was told very rudely that no they cant but I could have another mocktail from the menu and they'd leave the shot off that. why couldn't i just have the one I wanted ? I strongly believe that this person just simply didn't want to make the one I wanted and her attitude was rude and not friendly. She had a permanent frown on her face and was playing on her mobile phone disinterested in customers. So I went with the cocktail she decided she wanted to make and when I tasted it it was extremely sour. Iv had these cocktails before and it didn't look like or taste like it usual does. I felt like this person had just instantly taken a dislike to me and was being difficult on purpose. When my food arrived I got eggs benedict and the egg was completely undercooked it was flat on the bread and the white was none existent it was so undercooked. I didn't want to complain as already felt uncomfortable by the waitresses treatment but It looked horrible and I didn't want to eat snotty egg so I09 asked for a refund because I just wanted to get out, i also asked for a refund for the sour cocktail because it was too sour. Then one of the bar staff said to me im banned for complaining even though I should just be able to complain if food isn't up to standard. Iv been here for breakfast so many times and it shouldve been the same standard it always is. When I spoke to the person at the bar I said I was going to make a complaint about the under par service and way i had been treated and she smirked and said go ahead cos its me who deals with complaints. I have never been treated with so little respect anywhere before. The 2 women that were working both had miserable faces and were playing on their mobile phones whilst working and it was extremely unprofessional. Now I understand why every time i went in there it was really quiet. I won't be back ever again now but I had to write a review because of how terrible the service I received today was and because those 2 sour faced staff are destroying a lovely place I really enjoyed...
Read moreExtremely disappointing experience – ruined baby shower
We booked the Mother of All Blooms baby shower package for 11 people and were so excited for what was advertised as a lovely, floral-themed afternoon. Unfortunately, the entire experience was a huge letdown from start to finish.
The package as advertised was meant to include floral decorations, a “mummy to be” flower crown, baby in bloom game cards, cocktails or mocktails, a baby grow craft kit for each person, and tote bags. We paid £15 per person (£165 total), yet there wasn’t a single floral decoration in sight, the mummy to be flower crown was missing, and we were only given one baby grow craft kit to share between 11 people — which completely ruined the activity i had planned as the mum-to-be.
The afternoon tea was another disappointment. It was supposed to come on individual stands again as advertised, but everything was just thrown together on one large plate, mostly filled with salad sandwiches and hardly any meat. Definitely not what you expect for the price.
After we complained, we were offered two extra drinks each as an apology — which not only felt unfair as I can’t drink alcohol, but even that went wrong. The drinks took 40 minutes to arrive, several were missing ingredients (like Prosecco shots) for my guests, and when we politely asked for this to be fixed, a staff member rudely told us, “I don’t have multiple hands.” Completely unprofessional.
To make matters worse, the venue was freezing cold, and at the end we were told there was an extra balance to pay for decorations — which were never even there in the first place!
In total, we paid £330 between 11 people for what felt like a complete shambles. As the mother-to-be i was really upset, and the whole day felt like very little effort had been made by staff, for what should have been a special occasion for me, especially been a first time mother to be.
Honestly, this experience was so disappointing that I’d never recommend booking a baby shower or any special event here. I really hope Slug & Lettuce take this feedback seriously and improve their organisation and...
Read moreAfter booking an afternoon tea along side the “mother of all blooms” baby shower package for my sisters baby shower we were nothing short of applaud with the customer service and the efforts made. As this is my sisters first child and a very special time in her life we wanted this to be perfect for her and it was far from that. When we arrived the staff looked at one another confused that we had a baby shower booked there like none of them knew about it. They then told us we the table wasn’t ready for us and they would go and decorate the table for us and would take 10 minutes. When we arrived to our table all they had done was pushed a few tables together and left us to it. The table wasn’t dressed as promised when I booked and spoke to someone on the phone. We then proceeded to put up our own decorations and a member of staff then came to us and said they didn’t have items we should have received as part of the “mother of all blooms” baby shower package making it impossible and spoiled ideas we had planned for activities for the guests to take part in. The afternoon tea was presented poorly. It was advertised as being served on individual afternoon tea stands, but instead all items were placed together on a single plate, making it look rushed and unappealing. The sandwiches mostly consisted of salad with very little meat, which made the offering feel cheap and disappointing given the cost of £15 per person (£165 total). A certain member of staff in particular was extremely rude when she had forgotten to bring drinks we had ordered she said “I can go and get them for you if you want” when she brought them she still missed drinks and when was asked about them she said “I don’t have multiple hands” even though the drinks missed were a latte and 3 shots of Prosecco and prior to this she brought 14 drinks up on 2 trays. The building were cold and not enjoyable to be sat in what so ever. Overall experience was very poor and will not book again and really advise others...
