Never really had anything from this place as I knew it was a bit pricey for what it is, but decided to see if they could offer any dairy free milk. Asked if they did any, which came with the response of 'soya', so I opted for a small soya hot chocolate, with Mum and Nannie getting coffee and tea. After paying, I wondered why it seemed more expensive than expected, and not only is a SMALL cup of hot chocolate £2.40, but they bang on a charge of +40p to have soya milk (which was written in tiny writing on the board 🙃). So basically it was £2.40 for a scoop of hot chocolate powder. When it came, it was definitely a small small small cup, but I had my doubts as to whether or not it was soya or dairy milk in there, but obviously unlike when someone serves you meat instead of soya-meat, there's no way of really knowing with milk. To make matters worse, I was wondering why my cup of hot milk had absolutely no chocolate taste to it, and discovered at the bottom of the cup a pile of brown sludge. My £2.40 scoop of hot chocolate powder. Was there an extra charge to have the powder mixed in with the milk???
What's more, my Nannie found a hair in her tea before she even had chance to take a swig, and the hair had a follicle on the end. Tasty. I wonder if we were charged extra for the hair or if it was complimentary?? I've seen some other reviews talking about finding hairs and even one person saying they found pube-looking hairs. How that can happen I don't even know.
Unless expensive piles of brown sludge and hairs are your thing, I wouldn't...
Read moreAwful place with even worse...horrible, ignorant, rude and racist staff!! I ordered a cappuccino and a tuna mayo sandwich on BROWN bread. waited approx 25 minutes for it to arrive. when it did arrive the coffee was stone cold and the sandwich looked disgusting, it was on very stale and hard WHITE bread that was literally falling apart on the plate, the tuna had not been drained so was very runny with mayo running off of it and then to my shock, there was a long black hair stuck to the inside of the bread, I immediately went back up to the counter and complained. The young girl was so impolite that I was disgusted with her whole cocky attitude. She tried to say it was my hair but I am blonde haired. However black, blonde or even pink hair should never be on food, another staff member came out from the kitchen area and barked really loudly at me "What's up?" I began to tell her and she just shrugged, smirked at me and said "Right, whatever." then said as I paid by card the refund would go back on it in 5 working days and walked off, I then heard them making very loud and snide comments about me then glaring at me, and two months later and still no refund. AVOID...
Read moreRecently on the hunt for a new cafe as a tradesman. This cafe holds a traditiona british nostalgia that I highly respect. By far the thing I love most. The staff are very nice, a mix of all ages and true force of fierce warrior women. Also a highly respected asset to a British cafe which I admire. The food is nice, I wouldn't call it a greesy spoon, as the food comes out well presented, well portioned and better quality than most.
However there are some cons. The biggest of which is the price. It is extortionate. You will have to folk out. Which I can only assume is because the ground rent for the premise will be also extortionate.
They have got my order wrong a few times, however due to the staff being very pleasant. I do not consider it as being a major issue. As they are always quick to rectify.
Outside of the price, the small tweaks to improve rhe rating is to increase the nostalgia feel by having the old school salt n pepper shakers on table, aswell as the old school ketchup/brown sauce bottle on hand.
I've eaten here many times and would love to increase my rating. But I dont feel I can do that until the price is adapted and the...
