Ambrose's Legit Honest ReviewsAmbrose's Legit Honest Reviews
Very pleasant café just close to the riverside and handy for the large, free car park. Fairly small inside, but lots of outdoor seating in the lovely garden area. Very relaxing. Prompt and friendly service. Also sells gifts, including assorted jewellery. They sell duck seed and duck bread too for the plentiful waterfowl just nearby at the River Wharfe's picnic area. (Bread not recommended food for ducks though, much as they voraciously eat it!) Closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Children's menu available. Also vegetarian, vegan and gluten free choices. Reasonably priced menu. Home baking. I had the homemade mushroom soup, it smellt lovely. Not a generous portion but it was delicious. (Another ladleful wouldn't have gone amiss.) Good hot chocolate. Would revisit as friendly service, attractive environs and tasty nosh.

It’s a lovely location by the river with plenty of outdoor seating. The service was a little rushed when the waitress came to take our order after a couple of minutes sitting down. In fact, she came 3 times and we weren’t that quick in reading 3 sides of the menu. I had the iced latte but it didn’t taste of great coffee. Then the hummus and pepper sandwich arrived with minimal salad garnish. For £6, it didn’t seem great value for money as you get supermarket standard brown bread. The fruit scone was much better and served warm. The food seemed overpriced for the quality received. But location was great!

A lovely quintessentialy English tea rooms & café. There is indoor & outdoor seating waited on by friendly staff serving a superb selection of expertly prepared food drinks & mouth watering cakes. I chose a Chicken Ceaser Salad which was absolutely delicious with a plethora of fresh salad including cucumber & tomatoes (which not many other cafés offer!) Overall our visit here was a delightful stop off which I highly recommend visiting if you are in Wetherby.

This is an absolutely terrible place to dine. It deserves no stars. Just on the entrance to the free Wetherby car park. Expensive food and sourced from aldi including the condiments etc. The young waitress blond girl was extremely rude and abrupt, kept watching us and was very eager for us to hurry up and finish to pay. We asked her for the bill, after receiving it it took 15 minutes for her to collect! She was making us wait this time. The upstairs toilet was absolutely disgusting with urine all over and the toilet was full of paper etc and stunk. The staff were rude and in particular the young blond waitress girl. We will never return. Whatever replies you have from this review will not be justified or accepted. We are not the only ones who won't be returning. Staff need training ASAP. AVOID THIS PLACE! AVOID AVOID AVOID.

Just to add after the owner response... I had a fantastic day after leaving this place! this is a discusting reply from the owner to me just as I thought, Sarcastic and taking no responsibility or apology, this is just the sort of unprofessional place and ownership/staff you can expect I guess. Clearly no remorse or sympathy for the customer. Thank god they undercharged me after all! I will now report the health issues involved. We chatted with another couple there and they were not happy either and complained at the time to staff but it was ignored. So no... We were not the only ones unhappy with service and cleanliness. We reported the problem to the girl but she ignored it!! That's what you get from a business employing young clueless untrained staff who do not care. Thank god for Google for letting people give their honest opinions and experiences about bad business practices... Thank you Google, you are...

I was really disappointed when I called in here recently. My partner ordered a sandwich but I ordered soup. I know that food should be checked for the correct temperature before serving so was shocked when I ate the soup and it immediately burnt the roof of my mouth. I let out a shriek but couldn't think what to do with it and the roof of my mouth blistered immediately. I told the waitress who just smiled and shrugged. I then ordered two ice cream desserts, thinking it would cool down my mouth as I peeled the skin from it! At ( I think £4.95) I thought each were going to be special. I ordered a chocolate brownie one and my partner ordered mint. I expected maybe vanilla and chocolate ice cream or maybe ice cream and brownie whilst my partner expected a mixture of vanilla and mint ice cream or something similar...they arrived and were identical. Chocolate sauce in the bottom, one scoop of vanilla ice cream and squirty cream on top. The only difference being that I had a flake and he had an after eight stuck in the top. Very poor. The only saving grace is...

I had an unfortunate experience at this cafe. At 31 weeks pregnant, I needed to find a toilet during a journey and made a detour into Wetherby, and this cafe was the first place I found after parking. A young waitress informed me that the toilet was for customers only. I explained my situation and asked to speak to someone senior, hoping for some understanding.

The girl led me to a lady, who I assume was the owner. Despite being visibly pregnant, she reiterated the policy with clear disdain. I mentioned again that I was pregnant, hoping for some empathy, and she reluctantly allowed me to use the toilet only after making it clear that most people tend to buy something afterward.

Shocked but desperate, I agreed, used the toilet, and purchased a bottle of water before leaving. This interaction left me feeling bad about myself. While I respect their policy, it was a weekday morning at around 10 am and the café was practically empty, so this felt needlessly petty. It costs nothing to be kind and empathetic. A disappointing experience from one...
