The Frying Pan — Local services in Leeds

Not quite sure maybe eight years ago or 10 years ago used to really rate this fish and chip shop and I’m not quite sure when but at some point it just wasn’t as good, not being for a few years and I’ve been been thinking about return visit now for awhile. Large haddock and chips, one cartoon of mushy peas, and scraps today’s purchase . Chips nine out of 10 ,scraps 10 out of 10 , fish batter about a seven or eight, But I couldn’t really give the fish more than six and it was the same for both fishes . It just wasn’t completely fresh and it didn’t have those big flakes that I expect from a large haddock . Before I came, I read the guy that was saying in his review the fish cake was not fresh and it did make me slightly apprehensive . Both fishes were fully eaten, but there was just that slight element that suggested they weren’t quite fresh as well as a little bit of color discrepancy . This was a destination trip . As always, I believe my review to be fair and accurate praising where praise is due . It’s a silly question asking about atmosphere. I’m not really sure how you answer such a thing in a Takeaway fish and chip shop.. Personally, I didn’t go into either of them so there’s no way I could answer that question however, the person that did made no negative comment...

First time at The Frying pan and I can say NEVER AGAIN. Chips were old . Chemical taste and tasted like they were refried more than once. The cheeseburger was tasteless cheep individually wrapped processed cheese. The burger was 2mm thick . Extremely thin . You get just a flat burger with processed cheese and a bun nothing else. The haddock was not fresh and dry obviously been under the lights for hours. . But the gravy was nice and you were happy to take my money for this very disappointing poor excuse you call food. Lovely fish and chips (well, I had a sausage, my Wife had the fish). Had an afternoon out in Wetherby, and were tempted to try the Whaler, but their prices are ridiculous. Saw a proper tradional chippy on the map so stopped by the pub next door until they opened at 4:30pm.

We each got a meal deal (with side, and can of pop). Food was very nice, cooked perfectly, and big portions. Sat outside to eat, in the scorching late afternoon sun.

Friendly staff, and great service. Will definitely come again if we ever visit Wetherby...
