I'm here as I write this. I'm just so blown away I just had to write about it while the flavours are still pouring around my mouth and Van Morrison is singing in my ear. The Swine That Dines has just sky rocketed into the number one slot for restaurants in Leeds as far as I'm concerned. Jo and Stu are quite simply in a league of their own. They do what they want, as it pleases, and oh my gosh it pleases. I'm into some of the fancy upmarket restaurants further towards the center... But the cold hard truth is, the pale in comparison to the homely vyb, good times and exceptional food found in this humble 5 table eatery on the border of the city centre It's personal, it's beautiful, and it's oh so tastey. Chat to Jo about the food, she'll tell you all about it. Perfect front of house service. I had the ox tongue (the menu changed regularly) and it was without doubt the best dish I've had in Leeds. The wine list is amazing too! Just get yourself booked in.

We had heard good things about TSTD, but our experience last night far exceeded our expectations. It started as we walked through the door, the aroma coming from the kitchen excited our taste buds and boy the food that arrived on our plates delivere. We had the seven plates tasting (standard), and we added the polenta dish and custard dessert. We enjoyed every plate, but our highlights were; chicken livers, chickpea, potato and ox tongue. On top of the food, the service was exceptional and the restaurant felt homely. Given most ‘fine’ dining restaurants can be quite stuffy at times, this was refreshing. Great price point too. This will be a regular on our dining rota in the future and we look forward to coming back.

Outstanding food and drink, even better value. We had dinner here last Thursday evening, place was full and a lovely atmosphere. Wonderful service from walking through the door to leaving. I had the pork which was the best meal I’ve ever had, cooked wonderfully and very French. Partner had the steak and it was perfect. We had a snack and a starter which were absolutely outstanding - devilled eggs and pate. We’ve been to Bavette 4/5 times as it’s local and this was as good, potentially better setting as it’s a bit darker and cosier. Will be going again.

Congratulations on the relocation! The new venue in Headingley is beautiful and more capacious than the old place.

I was greeted warmly by staff, on entry, being remembered from a prior visit, which was heart warming.

Quickly seated, I ordered a hugely refreshing and unusual anise-flavoured drink, mixed tall with alcohol free prosecco, from a satisfyingly large menu of non-alcoholic options.

The food menu is printed fresh each day, which suggests there is a healthy rotation of dishes; locals will not get bored with regular visits!

The waiting staff were prompt, attentive and informative, clearly knowing what the menu items were and how they tasted. Having heard them run through all the options for that day I honestly regretted not having more stomachs, to be able to do justice to the entire menu. What I did select, though, was:-

Devilled eggs, as an amuse: creamy and not overly spicy,

Courgette on butterbean purée, with a moat of basil 'jus'. So beautifully presented. An elegant and complexly flavoured small dish, designed as a veggie starter, but could be a main, if you were not feeling too hungry and paired it with the in-house baked farmhouse bread.

Main was the salmon steak, on a bed of spinach, with anchovy, sorrel and broad beans. Impeccably cooked, the fish was just barely cooked through on the inside, still attractively pink, but not underdone, whilst also having a crackly, crispy skin, with a smoky, roast taste. All the ingredients worked harmoniously to make a delicious eating experience.

Paired with the fish, I ordered side bowls of roast new potatoes, rolled in salt, and buttery carrots, roast with thyme, neither of which I could finish, but that the staff were happy to wrap for me to take home.

Finished with a slice of the restaurant's delicious raspberry frangipane and best clotted cream I've had in a while; and a fresh black filter coffee.

A great evening all round. Shall definitely return whenever I...

We had been to Swine that dines last year before it got its new home at swine Bistro We were delighted and comforted by the food and we couldn’t wait for it to reopen its doors this year. Stu and Jo’s food is the food that is cooked with love and all you feel afterwards is this sheer sense of happiness and comfort. We were so thrilled that we asked if they could cater for a small group of 10 people at our home -it was our wedding. Possibly the smallest wedding party ever.Jo worked out this excellent menu with a mix of veg and meat/fish which was incredible. It was the best food our friends and family had had at a party. Leave aside the food, they delivered it to our home with a present from the team! That is a lovely gesture. Our heartfelt thanks to the team for making our special day even more memorable. The current restaurant is considerably bigger and they have an extremely busy Saturday despite which they didn’t hesitate to take our order. I am surprised how they managed to make time in their schedule to personally deliver the food to us and cook a whole extensive menu amidst running a restaurant. Every single item on the menu starting from the garlic croutons, the picked cucumber, olives, cod, duck confit , hispy cabbage, ragu, polenta, the butter, sourdough etc etc and the 4 large cakes they baked were delicious!! I could go on and on with the compliments!!Heart felt thanks to you and we intend to see...

This place isn’t bad, it’s not even good, it’s bloomin’ brilliant. We booked an early dinner as we were going to the theatre afterwards. Shown to our table and the menu was explained to us - a relatively short list of four starters and the same number of mains. IMO, that’s great; do a few things well rather that loads poorly is my maxim and it is clearly theirs as well. We had a couple of g’n’t’s whilst we chose - fish soup for me and venison terrine for her ladyship followed by duck suet pudding for her and belly pork for me. As we weren’t in a particular rush, we asked for a leisurely service, which we received.. The food was exceptional - and that’s not hyperbole - great portion size, tasty, well seasoned, hot. Limited but well chosen wine list - we had the Tempranillo, which was nice. We were served by both the lady who I understand is co-owner and Keisha, who is absolutely lovely. If I’m being really picky, the toilet isn’t fantastic. But it’s an old building and they are clearly limited on space and what they can do in an old cellar space. But don’t let that put you off. Visit this place, because the food is great, the people are lovely and the...
