One of my favourite bakeries ever! Not only does this place serve a huge range of breads in all different shapes and sizes and flavours, but it is also a great cafe. I had the oat sourdough and it was some of the softest and most flavourful bread I have ever eaten, a really nice depth and complexity to it. When I sat in the place, I first had a dark chocolate and mango bun, being an enriched doughy bread with hefty chunks of crystallised mango and dark chocolate prices - Delightful. A combination I never imagined would go so well. I sat and worked for a significant amount of time, never feeling rushed or out of place. The drinks selection is small but my tea was lovely and they do have a small but mighty food selection to eat it. A pastrami sarnie was my choice, and it was rather tasty, being salty, tangy from the pickles, creamy from the mustard and light from the salad.
This is a great bakery and I will so be back for more bread...
Read moreWent here yesterday, my mom went in and ordered a small malt loaf, £1.20 and Lardy cake £1.15. She was charged £2.70..... She is 80 yrs old and still uses cash.. They demanded the correct change and when I went in because she was struggling to get her purse out, I sorted the correct money. My point is, the time taken to do this far exceeded the time it would have taken to just give her the change. They are handling money anyway, by taking the coins, so what stops them doing that. The exposure time if you want to argue about Covid was made even longer by this stance. The attitude of the 2 girls was not what I would expect when interacting with an older person. I would have walked out, but didn't want to embarrass my mom anymore than she already was. Wont ever go here again.... May need maths lessons too. She should have been charged 1.15 + 1.2, which is 2.35, not 2.70.... Your photos show the price...
Read moreHaving travelled to Lichfield on Sundays for as long as I can remember, I refreshingly visited on a Saturday instead. There is so much more hustle and bustle on its picturesque, historic streets. Bore Street felt as busy as Bird Street. Why? Amongst other things, Bore Street Bakery was open. The numbers of folk in the queue at 10 in the morning reflected its popularity. I used a good dose of self discipline to stop myself buying one of its many artisan bread goods. On full view from the shop window were different types of loaves ready to tempt the taste buds. I opted for a coffee. Given the ease in lockdown restrictions, I was given the pleasure of sampling the coffee on a bench outside. What a beautifully crafted coffee, with fine latte art delivered in a equally beautiful cup. I was happy as a pig rummaging for...
